Barrels & Bottles Brewery increased production, updated its beer program, donated $9,000 to Golden charities, and served more than 14,000 wine slushies in 2017.
Barrels & Bottles brewed 224 BBL of beer in 2017. In May, the brewery hired Greg Moore as its new head brewer. He has since tweaked almost every one of the company’s beer recipes— Orange Creamsicle Blonde Ale, Space Oddity Pale Ale, The Beer Formerly Known As Amber Ale, Bang Your Head Red IPA, Obsess Much? Imperial Peanut Butter & Chocolate Stout and Dry Hopped Saison— and added many new beers to the menu as well. The Comb-Over Kolsch is one of the most popular new beers on tap.
Moore also introduced the Meal Replacement Series, which included the sessionable Lunch Break IPA and the Breakfast Coffee Brown Ale that was brewed with Pangea coffee roasted down the street in downtown Golden. He’ll soon debut an Old Ale in this series.
Barrels & Bottles Colorado BAE IPA, an all-Colorado ingredient (using Colorado Malting Company barley and High Wire Hops) IPA took home a double gold and third place overall from the 2017 Denver International Beer Competition.
Also in 2017, Barrels & Bottles installed two new tanks and two new brite tanks, as well as several new beer taps. The brewpub now boasts 27 beer drafts, 24 wines on tap, and its infamous wine slushy machine. Last year Barrels & Bottles served mored than 14,000 wine slushies.
Barrels & Bottles raised $9000 for charity in 2017. Recipients of these donations included the Golden Civic Foundation and the Colorado Firefighter Calendar..
Nine people got Festivus and beer-themed tattoos at Barrels & Bottles annual Festivus beer dinner and celebration that includes feats of strength and an airing of grievances around an authentic Festivus pole. Tickets sold out in less than a week.
