Colorado College and Goat Patch Brewery Raise a Toast to 150 Years with Exclusive Brew

Colorado College and Goat Patch Brewing Raise a Toast to 150 Years with Exclusive Brew Community to help name new CC beer.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO– In honor of Colorado College's upcoming 150th anniversary, the institution has collaborated with Goat Patch Brewing Company to rebrand its popular blonde ale as a CC beer, creating a unique and celebratory beer, fusing tradition with innovation.

Inspired by Vice President and Director of CC Athletics Lesley Irvine, who recognized the trend of colleges crafting their own signature beers, this collaboration became an inevitable choice. Goat Patch brews were made available at Ed Robson Arena nearly two years ago and have become extremely popular with the community attending events there. As Irvine aptly put it, "Why not us?"

“This is such an exciting and fun partnership for Colorado College with a high-quality local business,” said Irvine. “Goat Patch aligns with our own values of commitment to community and their competitive spirit is reflected in their high-quality outcomes, which aligns so seamlessly for us. This helps build community, pride, brand, and loyalty in a highly visible way. We are grateful for their willingness to partner, and we are excited to bring the CC community their very own beer - particularly in celebration of our 150th anniversary!”

Over the past 18 months, this collaboration has evolved from Goat Patch products first being served in Ed Robson Arena in 2022, to hosting various CC community gatherings at the brewery, to a now more strategic partnership. This effort supports local community building through high-quality, value-driven brands and organizations.

Cate Baze from Goat Patch Brewery eloquently captures the essence, stating, "Partnering with Colorado College on this special brew for their 150th anniversary is more than crafting a beer; it's our way of raising a pint to their legacy. This collaboration embodies our shared dedication to innovation, community, and a celebration of tradition. It's more than just a drink; it's a flavorful tribute to 150 years of excellence and the vibrant spirit of CC."

The timing of this launch, coinciding with Colorado College's landmark sesquicentennial celebration, holds profound significance. Beyond the beverage itself, this unveiling symbolizes shared values, dedication, and the promise of a vibrant future. It stands as an ode to the past while raising a collective glass to the exciting journey ahead.

Colorado College community members and the public will have the chance to decide the first-ever CC beer’s name through an online voting site from January 19 – February 18. The winning name will be announced at the end of March. The newly branded beer will be served along with other Goat Patch beers at CC events, Goat Patch Brewery, and other Colorado Springs dining and bar establishments.

Goat Patch Brewing Company Releases Pappy Legba Imperial Cherry Saison

Goat Patch Brewing releases long anticipated Pappy Legba Imperial Cherry Saison on draft and in bottles at the tap room May 27th at 5pm.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Atibon Legba, louvre port-la pou mwen! Little good Legba, open the door for me! Papa (Pappy) Legba is the master linguist, the trickster, warrior, and the personal messenger of destiny. He has the power to remove obstacles, and he provides opportunities while being the gatekeeper of voodoo folklore.

Goat Patch Brewing Company will be releasing the highly anticipated Pappy Legba Imperial Cherry Saison both on draft and in bottles in the Taproom on May 27th, 2022 at 5 PM.

Pappy Legba Imperial Saison was originally created by Co-Owner and Head Brewer of Goat Patch Brewing Company, Darren Baze. It was brewed at Trinity Brewing Company until September 2017 when Jason Yester, Head Brewer and Owner at the time, gifted the rights of the beer to Darren.

The beer is a deceptively smooth 13.4% ABV Imperial Saison brewed with over one pound of cherries per gallon and aged in rye whiskey barrels from local distillery, Axe and the Oak.

“We recommend sharing the bottles, but only with the best of friends.”

Goat Patch Brewing Company Wins Silver Award at World Beer Cup

Goat Patch Brewing brings home the silver medal in the Scottish-Style Ale category at the 2022 World Beer Cup for It Takes a Tribe Red Ale.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO— Goat Patch Brewing Company claimed a silver award in the 2022 World Beer Cup®, a global beer competition that evaluates beers from around the world and recognizes the most outstanding brewers and their beers.

Awards were given in 103 beer-style categories during the World Beer Cup award ceremony on May 5, 2022 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minnesota.

Goat Patch Brewing Company was awarded a silver award in the Scottish-Style Ale beer style category for its It Takes a Tribe Red Ale, a smooth, full-bodied Ale brewed with rich caramel malts and Warrior hops, you can find this beer in GPB's taproom on draft and available to go in crowlers and growlers. It Takes a Tribe Red Ale is also featured in 60+ different bars and restaurants across the greater Colorado Springs area.

"We are so honored to receive this award! It certainly feels good to get recognition for our team's hard work, and we hope this can bring more awareness about how this beer supports our community focused initiative” says co-owner and head-brewer, Darren Baze.

"As the very first recipe created on our pilot system, It Takes a Tribe Red Ale has served as our full time community beer since the day we opened our doors. With each pint purchased, Goat Patch donates 25 cents towards featured local nonprofits that rotate annually. This beer allows our patrons to join us in learning more about the amazing work happening right here in our neighborhood and give back in a tangible way”.

World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 226 beer judges from 28 countries. Widely regarded as the “Olympics of Beer,” the 2022 World Beer Cup was the largest competition to date with 10,542 entries from 2,493 breweries in 57 countries.

Presented by the Brewers Association, the World Beer Cup has been held biennially since 1996, to celebrate the art and science of brewing by recognizing outstanding achievement. For additional information, visit the World Beer Cup website.

Denver Metro Breweries Release Gluten-free Collaboration Brew for Celiac Awareness Month

Participating breweries include Holidaily Brewing Company, Timnath Beerwerks, Two22 Brew, Broken Compass Brewing, Uhl’s Brewing Company, Black Forest Brewing Company, and Goat Patch Brewing Company.

DENVER, CO— Denver Metro breweries have teamed up to brew a gluten-free beer in honor of Celiac Awareness Month, which occurs in May each year. This month is growing in popularity, and is centered around advocacy of Celiac Disease, affecting around 3 million individuals in the U.S.

Participating breweries include Holidaily Brewing Company, Timnath Beerwerks, Two22 Brew, Broken Compass Brewing, Uhl’s Brewing Company, Black Forest Brewing Company, and Goat Patch Brewing Company.

The breweries convened at Holidaily Brewing Company to brew a Mexican Lager, which was brewed with local, certified gluten-free millet as well as malted yellow and blue corn, and a touch of noble hops.

Mexidaily Mexican Lager is the perfect way to kick off warm weather, with a touch of corn-like sweetness in the body and a refreshing, crisp finish.

This project is near and dear to participating breweries, as the number of those with Celiac Disease continues to be on the rise in the U.S., and thus the increase of customers looking for gluten-free options.

“All of these breweries know someone with Celiac Disease and were excited about the idea of bringing awareness to this disease,” said Garrett Maldonado, Sales Representative for Holidaily Brewing Company. “It’s cool to show that just because you are gluten-free, doesn’t mean that you need to compromise on the craft beer experience typified by Colorado.”

“Celiac Awareness Month is important to us because it affects many people in our community,” said Karen Hertz, founder of Holidaily Brewing. “Our beer is made with 100% gluten-free ingredients so even the most gluten-sensitive consumers can enjoy a delicious craft beer.”

Mexidaily Mexican Lager will be released on draft at all participating brewery taprooms on Cinco de Mayo, May 5th, 2022.
