Crystal Springs Brewing Co., Great Divide Brewing Co., and Lone Tree Brewing Co. Collaborate on Colorado Sweep Wheat Ale

Colorado Breweries Collaborate on American Fruit Beer after sweeping 2021 GABF Category.

Photo courtesy Nikki A Rae Photography

DENVER, CO— Last year three prized Colorado craft breweries made headlines when they swept the competitive American Fruit Beer category at the 2021 Great American Beer Festival®. Their collaboration brew Colorado Sweep, an American Wheat Ale, is now available at each brewery’s tasting room.

The hardware that the Crystal Springs Blood Orange Kölsch (gold), Great Divide Wild Raspberry Ale (silver), and Lone Tree Peach Pale Ale (bronze) took home last year was the perfect impetus for these Front Range breweries to join forces for a collaboration beer to celebrate and serve at the annual Colorado Brewers Guild Collaboration Fest.

“This idea came about immediately after the GABF awards were announced in September 2021,” says Matt Sandy, Great Divide’s Marketing Manager. The winners were Crystal Springs Blood Orange Kölsch (gold), Great Divide Wild Raspberry Ale (silver), and Lone Tree Peach Pale Ale (bronze). “Because Colorado swept the American Fruited Ale category, we thought it would be fun to collaborate with the other breweries and keyed in on Collaboration Fest as being the perfect arena to celebrate this group effort. Not only has the fest become one of the country’s premier showcases for unique collaborations, it also fell around the same time we were planning on releasing our winning beer, Wild Raspberry Ale, in 6-packs.”

Crystal Springs, Great Divide, and Lone Tree gathered last month to craft an American Wheat Ale with both white and flaked Wheat, and Hallertau Magnum, Saaz, Cascade, and Lemondrop hops to create complexity of body, and refreshing, citrus and fruit-forward flavors. The breweries then added blood orange, raspberry, and peach to represent the fruits in all three of the award winners.

“The combination of fruits contributed by each brewery should create a fun and refreshing beer that we are all excited to share with the public at Collaboration Fest,” says Lone Tree Sales & Marketing Director Dennis Stack.

Festival-goers at Collaboration Fest should be on the lookout for this inspired fruit beer before it’s gone. Catch Colorado Sweep on tap at each brewery’s respective locations while supplies last.

Lone Tree Brewing Unveils Pomegranate Wit For Spring

Pomegranate Wit begins as a traditional Witbier recipe made with coriander, and fermented with a Belgian yeast strain before it gets the addition on pomegranate pureé.

IMG_5483 2.jpg

LONE TREE, CO— Lone Tree Brewing Company presents a fresh seasonal brewed for Spring Equinox, Pomegranate Wit.

Pomegranate Wit begins as a traditional Witbier recipe made with coriander, and fermented with a Belgian yeast strain before it gets the addition on pomegranate pureé. This pink-hued brew is a drinkable 5.3% ABV

From the time-honored Peach Pale Ale recipe to the Strawberry Kiwi Blonde Ale released in 2020, Lone Tree has always experimented with fruit in the brewhouse. The latest of these test batches-turned-canned selections is the sweet, zesty addition of Pomegranate to a traditional Belgian-style Wheat Ale.

Pomegranate Wit joins the Lone Tree canned lineup of fruit beers this week, and it will stick around for the season. Find it in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans  across Colorado and in select locations in Kansas while supplies last.

"This beer was inspired by a trip to Belgium,” says Dennis O’Harrow, Lone Tree’s Head Brewer. “It’s very fruit-forward with a unique almost banana-like character that comes from the esters in the yeast strain we use.”

Golden Berry Ale is a higher octane, Belgian-Style Ale that’s surprisingly quaffable for its 8% ABV. Lone Tree Brewing Rolls Out First-Ever Year-Round IPA, Castle Rock Pale Ale, and Strawberry Kiwi Blonde Ale

2020 is a revolutionary year for Lone Tree Brewing Company’s canned portfolio.

IMG_9720.jpg

LONE TREE, CO— 2020 is a revolutionary year for Lone Tree Brewing Company’s canned portfolio. Fresh off the release of New Zealand IPA early in the year, Lone Tree presents three new brands that are now available across Colorado: India Pale Ale, Castle Rock Pale Ale, and Strawberry Kiwi Blonde Ale.

Lone Tree’s new India Pale Ale is a clear, West Coast-style IPA recipe that Lone Tree has long been tweaking to perfection. This medium-bodied 6.2% ABV India Pale Ale has bold hop character from Centennial, Cascade, and Zythos with copious amounts of CTZ dry-hopping that yield fruit-forward and citrus aromas— all balanced out with a strong but not overpowering malt backbone. “We launched our canned brands with our Double IPA and we’ve always experimented with different hops in our Hoppy Little Trees project, but we’ve never had a year-round flagship IPA until now,” says someone cool at Lone Tree. “This IPA is a long time coming, and we can't wait to share this final product with our customers.”

Castle Rock Pale Ale also joined Lone Tree’s canned lineup this spring. This 5.6% ABV Pale Ale is everything one needs in a classic Pale Ale recipe: well-rounded, both malty and bitter, with a pleasant citrus-forward dry-hop aroma. Lone Tree crafted to celebrate the opening of Castle Rock, Colorado’s new Whole Foods store. It is now available at Whole Foods locations across the Front Range, and of course to-go from Lone Tree’s tasting room. Long live the easy drinking Pale Ale.

Strawberry Kiwi Blonde Ale hits shelves across Colorado and Kansas this week. Blonde Ale makes for the perfect base for these subtle fruit flavors in this refreshing spring seasonal that weighs in at 5.2 percent ABV. This warm weather crusher will be available all summer long.

Find all of these new cans for sale to-go at Lone Tree’s tasting room, and at liquor and grocery stores across Colorado. Contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com for more information or to connect with the brewery.

Funkwerks Welcomes Spring with Provincial Series and Sour-themed Merch

Funkwerks celebrates Spring in full swing with an array of sour beers packed full of funk and fruit.

FunkFlights Tasters-1.jpg

FORT COLLINS, CO— Funkwerks celebrates Spring in full swing with an array of sour beers packed full of funk and fruit. Now available on draft and select packaging, Funkwerks’ Provincial series, an ongoing lineup of sour fruit beers, currently includes Apricot, Pineapple, Passion Fruit, and Raspberry Provincial— all of which are included in the breweries latest version of their in-house Sour Snack Pack flight.

Brewed utilizing a unique 24-hour warm souring technique using lactobacillus in the wort and featuring rotating fruit additions, Funkwerks’ Provincial series is part of the brewery’s Boutique Line and are available in bottles and draft in limited runs.

Raspberry Provincial is available year-round across the brewery’s 13 state distribution footprint in 6 packs of 12 oz. bottles and on draft. Raspberry Provincial was the beer to first kick off the series as a delicious creation that was truly a product of creativity, ingenuity, and luck. In the summer of 2013 Funkwerks took a test batch of their sessionable sour summer ale, Provincial, that didn’t quite hit gravity and decided to have some fun with it by adding a heavy dose of raspberries. The end result was so delicious, the brewery ended up brewing it year-round, to this day. This delightfully tart fruit beer is refreshing, with notes of lemon, bright raspberries, and a citrusy berry aroma which transitions to a subtly sweet and tart finish.

Passion Fruit Provincial is available on draft in the taproom and in very limited amounts outside of Colorado. In 12 oz. bottles it is only available in Funkwerks’ latest version of their variety 12 packs, Winky’s Snack Pack. This beer is full of tropical fruit flavors and bright aromatics. Beginning with the classic light, sessionable, sour ale, Funkwerks added fresh passion fruit to play off of their Belgian yeast’s naturally occurring fruity esters and contribute additional tartness. Transport yourself to sunny days and good times with this tropical, refreshing beer packed with notes of mango and tart citrus.

Apricot Provincial, available on draft at the brewery’s tasting room, is Funkwerks’ sessionable Belgian-style sour ale with a citrusy apricot aroma that transitions into a subtly sweet and tart finish.

Pineapple Provincial is now available in 6 packs of 12-ounce bottles across Colorado and on draft in select markets across Funkwerks’ distribution footprint including Colorado, Southern California, Minnesota, and Missouri. Good for more than just alliteration, Pineapple Provincial is a tart, light-bodied, tropical beer with notes of lemon zest and pineapple that give the apricot and raspberry variants of the Provincial series a run for their money.

The fun doesn’t stop at the liquid. For those who want more, Funkwerks has created a line of funky and sour bacteria-inspired merchandise available in the tasting room and online at Winky’s Warehouse online store at funkwerks.com, including:

Funky Water Bottles
Sour Fruit Goblet Glasses
Funky Bacteria Socks
Limited Edition Pocket Tees with patterned pocket
Funky Bandanas
Bottle Sweaters

Elevation Beer CO. Releases Fruited Spring Seasonals

Raspberry Gulch and Pineapple Acide are now available for a limited time in six packs of 12 oz. cans.

IMG_2354.JPG

PONCHA SPRINGS, CO— Spring has sprung in the Arkansas River Valley and Elevation Beer Co. has released two fruit beers to celebrate the season. Raspberry Gulch and Pineapple Acide are now available for a limited time in six packs of 12 oz. cans across Colorado while supplies last.

Raspberry Gulch is a fruited Imperial Saison with a traditional yeast strain from Belgium and nearly 18 pounds of raspberries per barrel. Raspberry Gulch plucks that high altitude tart trailside raspberry and puts it right in your glass. With subtle notes of hay and a comfortable 7.5% ABV, this seasonal release is the perfect way to start your spring adventures.

The French translation of sour, Acide, is the brewery’s trip into the increasingly popular style of kettle soured beers and has since spawned several fruit variants including Peach, Pomegranate, Raspberry, and now the return and canned debut of Pineapple Acide as the first 2019 release in the series.

Brewed with lactobacillus and coming in at 4.5% ABV, Pineapple Acide is delicately balanced for an approachable level of puckering sourness, pleasant acidity, and a tart refreshing finish on the tongue. Lemony and floral aromas arise from a generous dose of Amarillo hops and meld with a subtle graininess making Pineapple Acide a hit with brewery staff and patrons alike.
