Autumn Arrives With Lone Tree Brewing Vanilla Caramel Amber

Lone Tree Brewing Company’s fall seasonal Vanilla Caramel Amber returns in 6-packs to Colorado and Kansas.

LONE TREE, CO— It’s Vanilla Caramel Amber season at Lone Tree Brewing, where this autumnal favorite makes its return in cans for the sixth year. Look for this beer in canned 6-packs across Colorado and Kansas this season.

Originally developed on Lone Tree Founder John Winter's homebrew system, this beer’s rich caramel and vanilla flavors are created with crystal malt and Madagascar vanilla beans— and no other adjuncts either. The base beer is a traditional American Amber with a good helping of hops to balance out the sweetness of the vanilla. This cold month staple is a drinkable 6% ABV.

Find Vanilla Caramel Amber as a rotating tap at the Lone Tree tasting room and select locations this fall and winter, and in cans across the brewery footprint in Colorado and Kansas. Locate Lone Tree beer with their website beer finder.

Media inquiring about Lone Tree Brewing Company can contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com

Fall is Here and Winter is Coming: Ska Brewing 2022 Mexican Style Lager Dark and Euphoria Pale Ale Releases

It’s officially autumn in Southwest Colorado, marked by the release of Ska’s two cold month seasonals: Mexican Style Lager Dark and Euphoria Pale Ale.

DURANGO, CO— The leaves are turning and the beers at Ska Brewing are getting darker in color. It’s officially autumn in Southwest Colorado, marked by the release of Ska’s two cold month seasonals: Mexican Style Lager Dark and Euphoria Pale Ale.

Mexican Style Lager Dark hit Ska’s World Headquarters in Durango last week and is now available across its United States distribution footprint. Ska first introduced this dark lager in cans in January of 2021 to round out the winter months with a dark variant of the famed summer seasonal Mexican Logger. It’s a smooth and slightly sweet beer that’s balanced with mild bitterness, subtle caramel flavors, and a touch of roast on the finish. Just as Mexican Logger has come to signify the coming of spring in Durango, Mexican Style Lager Dark joins Ska’s long-established Euphoria Pale Ale as a lantern leading to winter.

2022 marks Euphoria Pale Ale’s sixteenth year in a can. This winter ale’s story begins at Purgatory Ski Resort for which the recipe was originally crafted, and travels to Silverton, Colorado where the brewery teams up with Venture Snowboards to create a custom, Ska-themed snowboard each year.  The brewery will announce this season’s snowboard giveaway details on social media.

Euphoria Pale Ale returns to Ska on Thursday, October 13 with a celebration to include live music by Chuck Hank beginning at 5pm. The beer will be released to all of Ska’s distribution markets this week as well.

Global Depalletizer Market Growing; Ska Fabricating To Showcase Depalletizers At Pack Expo International

Ska Fabricating offers one of the world’s largest selections of depalletizer and repalletizer products— aided by the acquisition of GR-X Manufacturing earlier this year— that can be customized to support automation across industries.

CHICAGO, IL— Ska Fabricating will showcase the International Microbus and the Full Height Automatic (FHA) 3000 Depalletizer with Industrial S-Grip lowerator at Pack Expo International, one of the largest gatherings in the packaging community offering packaging and processing solutions for every industry, in October 2022.

Market researchers predict the global depalletizer market is anticipated to rise at a considerable rate between now and 2028. Ska Fabricating offers one of the world’s largest selections of depalletizer and repalletizer products— aided by the acquisition of GR-X Manufacturing earlier this year— that can be customized to support automation across industries.

Ska Fabricating released the original version of the Microbus depalletizer earlier this year in the United States and Canada, and will now offer an international configuration capable of handling six of the world’s common pallet sizes. The International Microbus (left photo above) uses a hand crank or hand-held drill to raise the Pallet Lift Carriage until a layer of containers is level with the Deadplate. Then a belt-driven actuator (sweep) pushes the layer onto the 44” OD (Orbital Discharge) Rotary Table, which accumulates the containers, aligns them and feeds them into a Rinse Cage. Both the rotary infeed table and the automated sweep can be folded away, further reducing this already small machine's footprint on the production floor. Get more information about this innovative multi-pallet depalletizer here.

Also on display at this trade show will be the Full Height Automatic (FHA 3000) Depalletizer (right photo above). This machine is designed to support flexible configurations using its multiple discharge, decline, and pallet loading conveyor options, allowing it to be tailored to customer-specific requirements. The FHA 3000 was engineered with the flexibility to unload a wide range of container types including plastic containers, aluminum cans, or fiberboard tubes, among others, with a lift capacity up to 1,000 lbs. The FHA 3000 will be showcased alongside the Industrial S-Style Side-Grip Lowerator which offers customers tool-less adjustability during product changeovers and a small footprint, saving valuable floor space. Find more details about this versatile depalletizer here

Press assets for both machines are available here.

Find Ska Fabricating in booth location LU-7657 at Pack Expo International at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois from October 23-26, 2022.

Contact Elise Wright, Manager of Marketing and Events for Ska Fabricating, if you would like to connect with Ska Fabricating during the show: ewright@skafabricating.com. Media inquiring about Ska Fabricating can contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com.

Sauvage Spectrum and Peach Street Distillers Debut Bourbon Barrel-Aged Red and Red Wine Barrel-Aged Bourbon For Wine Fest in Palisade, Colorado

A Peach Street Distillers bourbon barrel-aged red wine made by Sauvage Spectrum, Devil’s Prey, and a rendition of Peach Street Distillers Colorado Straight Bourbon aged in Sauvage Spectrum's Red Wine soaked Oak Barrels.

PALISADE, CO— A Peach Street Distillers bourbon barrel-aged red wine made by Sauvage Spectrum, Devil’s Prey, and a rendition of Peach Street Distillers Colorado Straight Bourbon aged in Sauvage Spectrum's Red Wine soaked Oak Barrels, will be available Thursday September 15 to officially kick off Palisade Colorado’s annual Wine Fest weekend.

ABOUT THE WINE

Devil’s Prey is Sauvage Spectrum’s first foray into barrel-aged red wine. “We couldn't think of requesting the help from a better local partner,” says Winemaker and Co-Founder

Patric L. Matysiewski about his neighbors Peach Street Distillers. For Peach Street who are passionate about expressing the bounty of Colorado’s small farms in their final products, Sauvage Spectrum’s request was well-received.

To create Devil’s Prey, Matysiewski and his team took their most approachable red wine and aged it on Peach Street barrels for three and a half months. The experience begins with dark fruit jam and Bourbon aromas, followed by notes of dark cherries, tobacco, vanilla, brown sugar, and a hint of spice.

“This project is called Devil's Prey due to the fact the innocent wine lay victim to the spirit,” says Matysiewski. “Normally upon evaporation of wine or spirit you'd call that the "Devil's Cut", but here we take advantage of the Bourbon flavors from the previously used Peach Street barrels to help infuse some local flavor into this ever popular and growing style of wine. The flavors previously housed in the barrel actually seep back into the product as the wine starts to evaporate from the oak.”

ABOUT THE BOURBON

Peach Street Spirits transferred their handcrafted three-year-old Colorado Straight Bourbon into a freshly emptied Devil's Prey-soaked Oak Barrel for an additional 6 months of aging to craft this novel spirit. This single barrel, number 753, was then packaged as a single barrel celebration of this season's Colorado Wine Fest and in collaboration with Sauvage Spectrum Devil's Prey release. The resulting bourbon boasts a rich mahogany hue that’s several shades darker than Peach Street Colorado Straight Bourbon’s traditional amber hue, with notes of  dark cherry, vanilla and jam balanced by sharper edges of rye and spice, and a touch of sweet corn.

As drinkable as they are prime for a few years of aging, these storied and full-bodied bottles are ones to savor in good company. If you’d like more information about this collaboration or either of these beverage expressions, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com

ABOUT PEACH STREET DISTILLERS

Peach Street Distillers was founded in 2005 in the heart of Colorado’s fruit and wine region, Palisade Colorado, where the high desert meets the mountains. The warm days and cool nights in Palisade make the local fruits and grains unimaginably delicious. Living the very definition of “craft” Peach Street does everything the hard way to turn these fermentable raw materials into extraordinary spirits. Peach Street Distillers is Colorado’s oldest independently owned and operated distillery. Visit the distillery online at peachstreetdistillers.com for more about the spirits and the spirits squad.

For The Love of Ska Music: Ska Brewing Kicks Off Anniversary Weekend with The Art of Nan Coffey Art Show Opening

It’s serendipity that San Diego-based Nan Coffey connected with Ska Brewing CEO Dave Thibodeau, and it’s all because of each of their adoration for the old school American Ska band Fishbone.

DURANGO, CO— Ska Brewing will kick off its 27th anniversary weekend with an exclusive opening for The Art of Nan Coffey Art Show at the brewery’s World Headquarters on Friday, September 2, 2022.

It’s epic serendipity that San Diego-based Nan Coffey connected with Ska Brewing CEO Dave Thibodeau, and it’s all because of each of their adoration for the old school American Ska band Fishbone.

Here’s the backstory: Ska’s Arizona sales rep just so happens to be friends with Fishbone’s new manager, who just so happened to be talking about a collaboration with Coffey, who just so happened to be talking with kindred ska and punk rock-aligned craft brewers-Fall Brewing- about hosting said collaboration, when Ska Brew Dave and Fall Brewing Dave ran into each other at the 2022 Craft Brewers Conference. That was when the stars began to align.

Thibodeau, who’s been an unabashed fan of Coffey’s work for a few years now, says all of these signs from the universe pointed in the direction of Ska’s anniversary party. “I get to meet my total heroes from the music world at our anniversary party, and now we get to add art to that kindred fandom.”

The Art of Nan Coffey debuts on Friday at 4pm at Ska Brewing World Headquarters on the second floor. Free and open to the public, the show will include more than 100 pieces from original paintings to limited edition prints and more; some of which even incorporate images of Ska’s beers. Coffey will be in Durango for the first time to help kickoff the 27th Anniversary weekend, and she’ll be joined by her friends from Fall Brewing among 30 pouring breweries at the sold out Brewer’s Invitational on Saturday, September 3. Hepcat will headline with special guests Rude Girl Revue and Denver Vintage Reggae Society.

For more information about Ska Brewing’s 27th anniversary weekend celebration, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com. Media inquiring about The Art of Nan Coffey can contact Coffey at info@nanwashere.com.

The Southeast’s first craft malt house reports 198% growth over the last three years.

ASHEVILLE, NC— Today Inc. named Riverbend Malt House number 2804 on the list of the 5000 fastest growing private companies in America. This achievement comes on the heels of a major facility expansion, which increased Riverbend’s malting capacity by more than 50 percent.

The annual Inc. 5000 list is one of the most prestigious rankings of the nation's fastest-growing private companies, representing top tier independent small businesses in America. Inc. 5000 status is conferred based upon a company’s cumulative revenue growth over the preceding three years. Since 2018, amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, Riverbend has attained a revenue growth rate of 198 percent.

“This achievement is reflective of the relentless focus on product quality and customer service that the Riverbend team delivers day in and day out,” remarks Scott Hickman, Riverbend’s CEO. “We are truly grateful for the confidence placed in us by more than 250 brewing and distilling customers, which enabled us to qualify for this award."

Riverbend’s inclusion in the Inc. 5000 list is not only positive for Riverbend, but for the craft malt industry as a whole, Hickman continues: “Sales growth of this magnitude is a proof point indicating that discerning brewers and distillers are increasingly realizing the importance of high quality ingredients and a locally sourced brand message for their product differentiation."

A full list of winners including Riverbend Malt House can be found on the Inc.com website.

ABOUT RIVERBEND MALT HOUSE

Riverbend Malt House is on a quest to connect Southeastern family owned farms and fermenters. Co-Founders Brent Manning and Brian Simpson launched Riverbend, the first craft malthouse east of the Mississippi River, in Asheville, North Carolina in 2010. Buoyed by a 70,000 foot production facility and state of the art equipment, Riverbend Malt House helps breweries and distilleries large, small, and in-between stand out with flavor, locality, and community in an increasingly competitive landscape— all the while challenging the status quo of corporate, big-agriculture malt. Lone Tree Pilsner and Oktoberfest Cans Hit Colorado Shelves

Lone Tree Brewing small-batch German-style lagers available in cans, both available across Colorado while supplies last.

LONE TREE, CO— Lone Tree Brewing Company recently released two small-batch German-style lagers in cans, both available across Colorado while supplies last.

First up is the return of Pilsner cans. This classic style is one of the crowd favorites to come out of Lone Tree’s lager program. Its crispness differentiates it from the company flagship Mexican Lager, and makes for a quenching, repeatable summer beer at only 5.3% ABV. Pilsner malt and two additions of Hallertau hops comprise this simple recipe brewed to traditional German-style.

Next up, Oktoberfest, is another Lone Tree draft-turned-canned recipe. This 5.5% ABV malt-forward, amber-colored lager has a rich toasty, bready flavor, minimal bitterness, and a dry finish. Like Pilsner, it’s a recipe inspired by Head Brewer Dennis O’Harrow’s time across the pond.

Lone Tree Pilsner and Oktoberfest are available on tap at bars and restaurants and in canned 6-packs across Colorado. Brewery visitors can also taste these beers on tap and purchase 6-packs or Crowlers to-go, all while supplies last.

ABOUT LONE TREE BREWING CO.

Lone Tree Brewing Company was the first brewery to open in Lone Tree, Colorado in Denver’s South Metro area in 2011, and has remained a local staple for a decade. Lone Tree creates community around a stylistically diverse lineup of flagship, seasonal, and limited release beers that are sold in cans and on draft across Colorado, and in select locations in Kansas. Ska Brewing Oktoberfest Returns, In July

This award-winning German-style lager will tap for its fifth season at Ska Brewing World Headquarters on Wednesday, July 27 and hit shelves in 6-packs this week.

DURANGO, CO— Ska Brewing is ready for Oktoberfest early this year— blame it on the early fall colors to be found in the San Juan Mountains that the brewery calls home. This award-winning German-style lager will tap for its fifth season at the brewery World Headquarters on Wednesday, July 27 and hit shelves in 6-packs this week.

Ska’s Oktoberfest was late to the German lager party when they first debuted this beer in 2018, but they quickly made up for lost time in accolades. The first batch of Oktoberfest that came out in a can earned a gold medal at Great American Beer Festival® in the Vienna-style Lager category that year, and has since been honored at the European Beer Star and The Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival.

Made with all-European Munich and Vienna malts and classic German lagering techniques, this autumnal amber-brown beauty is nutty, bready, and toasty with a clean, neutral yeast flavor on the finish.

Oktoberfest season begins at Ska Brewing on Wednesday, July 27 where fans can count on this Vienna-style lager to stick around a little longer this year. The 2022 batch is scaled up to allocate more draft and canned 6-packs across Ska’s national markets for the fall season, too.

Riverbend Malt House Announces Major Expansion

New malting equipment at Riverbend Malt House Increases craft malt production capacity by more than 50 percent.

ASHEVILLE, NC– Riverbend Malt House announced that installation of its new 10 metric tonne Germination Kiln Vessel (GKV) was completed this week, with first malt production from the unit expected in coming weeks. This equipment complements a new 10 tonne steep tank which was installed earlier this year. Collectively, all of the new equipment in the Asheville-based malt house increases Riverbend’s overall craft malt production capacity by more than 50 percent.

“Riverbend’s sales grew by more than 40 percent in 2021 and we don’t see that growth rate tapering in 2022,” noted Scott Hickman, Riverbend Malt House CEO. “This new equipment is a critical part of an effort to be prepared for anticipated demand.”

Last year Asheville local Hillman Beer Company made the switch to Riverbend as their primary base malt provider, and that move has created consistency in an otherwise unstable supply chain. “It’s comforting as we celebrate our second year anniversary at our second location this week to know we’re going into our future with a great local partner who we can count on for consistency and quality,” says Co-Owner Brad Hillman.

With more craft malt production for brewers and distillers comes increased purchasing of grain from local, family-owned farming partners, and the hiring of additional employees at above Living Wage levels. These implications fulfill Riverbend’s corporate charter embodied in the company motto, Malt with a Mission.
