Brick Store Pub To Showcase 14 Beers Made With Riverbend Craft Malt
You’re Invited To Georgia’s Largest Craft Malt Showcase Yet
DECATUR, GA— Brick Store Pub will host what might be Georgia’s largest consumer-facing showcase of craft malt to-date on September 20, featuring a tap takeover of 14 beers brewed with malt from Riverbend Malt House.
WHAT
Craft breweries across the Southeast have united to build this one-of-a-kind tap list that includes a wide array of beer styles made with Riverbend 6 and 2-Row barley varieties, wheat, rye, and corn malt in their grain bills. Participating breweries include Arches Brewing Co., Beacon Brewing Co., Bhramari Brewing, Cherry Street Brewing, Creature Comforts Brewing Co., Crooked Can Brewing Co., DSSOLVR, Hopstix, Mythk Brewing, NoFo Brew Co. & Distillery, Sceptre Brewing Arts, Sideward Brewing, Southern Brewing Co., and Trimtab Brewing Co. The beer list will include two cask ales.
Also of note at this event will be a presentation that covers a behind the scenes look at recent research and development projects at the malt house by Riverbend Malt House Co-Founder Brent Manning. This will include a hot steep demonstration of several new products. This talk begins at 3:30PM.
“This event allows beer lovers to experience first-hand the difference that artisanal malt makes on a beer’s flavor and aroma,” says Neil Callaghan, Beer Director for the Brick Store Pub. “Many of our guests’ favorite breweries have been using Riverbend’s malted barley and grains for years, and with this event we can shine a spotlight on the ingredients that make these beers so wonderful. We’re excited to showcase beers from some of Georgia’s most talented brewers and some out-of-state breweries not often poured in the state and raise a glass to Riverbend.”

Ska Fabricating Launches International Microbus
The world's smallest footprint semi-automated depalletizer from Ska Fabricating is here.
DURANGO, CO— Next week at drinktec, the “world’s leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry,” Ska Fabricating will launch the International Microbus, the world's smallest footprint semi-automated depalletizer, at their booth in Hall C3, Stand 233.
The Microbus, which was released earlier this year in the United States and Canada, will now be offered in an international version capable of handling six of the world’s common pallet sizes. The Microbus uses a hand crank or handheld drill to lift the Pallet Lift Carriage, which is raised until a layer of containers is level with the Deadplate, then a belt-driven actuator (sweep) pushes the layer onto the 44” OD (Orbital Discharge) Rotary Table, which accumulates the containers, aligns them and feeds them into a Rinse Cage. Both the rotary infeed table and the automated sweep can be folded away, further reducing this already small machine's footprint on the production floor.
The International Microbus was engineered and priced with smaller production volumes, budgets and spaces in mind. This is now available for purchase. Get more information about this innovative multi-pallet depalletizer here, or reach out to the Ska Fab team at sales@skafabricating.com.

For The Love of Ska Music: Ska Brewing Kicks Off Anniversary Weekend with The Art of Nan Coffey Art Show Opening
It’s serendipity that San Diego-based Nan Coffey connected with Ska Brewing CEO Dave Thibodeau, and it’s all because of each of their adoration for the old school American Ska band Fishbone.
DURANGO, CO— Ska Brewing will kick off its 27th anniversary weekend with an exclusive opening for The Art of Nan Coffey Art Show at the brewery’s World Headquarters on Friday, September 2, 2022.
It’s epic serendipity that San Diego-based Nan Coffey connected with Ska Brewing CEO Dave Thibodeau, and it’s all because of each of their adoration for the old school American Ska band Fishbone.
Here’s the backstory: Ska’s Arizona sales rep just so happens to be friends with Fishbone’s new manager, who just so happened to be talking about a collaboration with Coffey, who just so happened to be talking with kindred ska and punk rock-aligned craft brewers-Fall Brewing- about hosting said collaboration, when Ska Brew Dave and Fall Brewing Dave ran into each other at the 2022 Craft Brewers Conference. That was when the stars began to align.
Thibodeau, who’s been an unabashed fan of Coffey’s work for a few years now, says all of these signs from the universe pointed in the direction of Ska’s anniversary party. “I get to meet my total heroes from the music world at our anniversary party, and now we get to add art to that kindred fandom.”
The Art of Nan Coffey debuts on Friday at 4pm at Ska Brewing World Headquarters on the second floor. Free and open to the public, the show will include more than 100 pieces from original paintings to limited edition prints and more; some of which even incorporate images of Ska’s beers. Coffey will be in Durango for the first time to help kickoff the 27th Anniversary weekend, and she’ll be joined by her friends from Fall Brewing among 30 pouring breweries at the sold out Brewer’s Invitational on Saturday, September 3. Hepcat will headline with special guests Rude Girl Revue and Denver Vintage Reggae Society.
For more information about Ska Brewing’s 27th anniversary weekend celebration, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com. Media inquiring about The Art of Nan Coffey can contact Coffey at info@nanwashere.com.

Riverbend Malt House Named One of Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies in America
The Southeast’s first craft malt house reports 198% growth over the last three years.
ASHEVILLE, NC— Today Inc. named Riverbend Malt House number 2804 on the list of the 5000 fastest growing private companies in America. This achievement comes on the heels of a major facility expansion, which increased Riverbend’s malting capacity by more than 50 percent.
The annual Inc. 5000 list is one of the most prestigious rankings of the nation's fastest-growing private companies, representing top tier independent small businesses in America. Inc. 5000 status is conferred based upon a company’s cumulative revenue growth over the preceding three years. Since 2018, amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, Riverbend has attained a revenue growth rate of 198 percent.
“This achievement is reflective of the relentless focus on product quality and customer service that the Riverbend team delivers day in and day out,” remarks Scott Hickman, Riverbend’s CEO. “We are truly grateful for the confidence placed in us by more than 250 brewing and distilling customers, which enabled us to qualify for this award."
Riverbend’s inclusion in the Inc. 5000 list is not only positive for Riverbend, but for the craft malt industry as a whole, Hickman continues: “Sales growth of this magnitude is a proof point indicating that discerning brewers and distillers are increasingly realizing the importance of high quality ingredients and a locally sourced brand message for their product differentiation."
A full list of winners including Riverbend Malt House can be found on the Inc.com website.

Lone Tree Pilsner and Oktoberfest Cans Hit Colorado Shelves
Lone Tree Brewing small-batch German-style lagers available in cans, both available across Colorado while supplies last.
LONE TREE, CO— Lone Tree Brewing Company recently released two small-batch German-style lagers in cans, both available across Colorado while supplies last.
First up is the return of Pilsner cans. This classic style is one of the crowd favorites to come out of Lone Tree’s lager program. Its crispness differentiates it from the company flagship Mexican Lager, and makes for a quenching, repeatable summer beer at only 5.3% ABV. Pilsner malt and two additions of Hallertau hops comprise this simple recipe brewed to traditional German-style.
Next up, Oktoberfest, is another Lone Tree draft-turned-canned recipe. This 5.5% ABV malt-forward, amber-colored lager has a rich toasty, bready flavor, minimal bitterness, and a dry finish. Like Pilsner, it’s a recipe inspired by Head Brewer Dennis O’Harrow’s time across the pond.
Lone Tree Pilsner and Oktoberfest are available on tap at bars and restaurants and in canned 6-packs across Colorado. Brewery visitors can also taste these beers on tap and purchase 6-packs or Crowlers to-go, all while supplies last.

Ska Brewing Oktoberfest Returns, In July
This award-winning German-style lager will tap for its fifth season at Ska Brewing World Headquarters on Wednesday, July 27 and hit shelves in 6-packs this week.
DURANGO, CO— Ska Brewing is ready for Oktoberfest early this year— blame it on the early fall colors to be found in the San Juan Mountains that the brewery calls home. This award-winning German-style lager will tap for its fifth season at the brewery World Headquarters on Wednesday, July 27 and hit shelves in 6-packs this week.
Ska’s Oktoberfest was late to the German lager party when they first debuted this beer in 2018, but they quickly made up for lost time in accolades. The first batch of Oktoberfest that came out in a can earned a gold medal at Great American Beer Festival® in the Vienna-style Lager category that year, and has since been honored at the European Beer Star and The Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival.
Made with all-European Munich and Vienna malts and classic German lagering techniques, this autumnal amber-brown beauty is nutty, bready, and toasty with a clean, neutral yeast flavor on the finish.
Oktoberfest season begins at Ska Brewing on Wednesday, July 27 where fans can count on this Vienna-style lager to stick around a little longer this year. The 2022 batch is scaled up to allocate more draft and canned 6-packs across Ska’s national markets for the fall season, too.

Riverbend Malt House Announces Major Expansion
New malting equipment at Riverbend Malt House Increases craft malt production capacity by more than 50 percent.
ASHEVILLE, NC– Riverbend Malt House announced that installation of its new 10 metric tonne Germination Kiln Vessel (GKV) was completed this week, with first malt production from the unit expected in coming weeks. This equipment complements a new 10 tonne steep tank which was installed earlier this year. Collectively, all of the new equipment in the Asheville-based malt house increases Riverbend’s overall craft malt production capacity by more than 50 percent.
“Riverbend’s sales grew by more than 40 percent in 2021 and we don’t see that growth rate tapering in 2022,” noted Scott Hickman, Riverbend Malt House CEO. “This new equipment is a critical part of an effort to be prepared for anticipated demand.”
Last year Asheville local Hillman Beer Company made the switch to Riverbend as their primary base malt provider, and that move has created consistency in an otherwise unstable supply chain. “It’s comforting as we celebrate our second year anniversary at our second location this week to know we’re going into our future with a great local partner who we can count on for consistency and quality,” says Co-Owner Brad Hillman.
With more craft malt production for brewers and distillers comes increased purchasing of grain from local, family-owned farming partners, and the hiring of additional employees at above Living Wage levels. These implications fulfill Riverbend’s corporate charter embodied in the company motto, Malt with a Mission.

Living The Dream Brewing High Line Pilsner Hits Cans
Living The Dream High Line Pilsner cans available across Colorado through Colorado Craft Distributors.
LITTLETON, CO.– Living The Dream Brewing is excited to can one of its taproom favorites for the first time. Six-packs of 12oz. High Line Pilsner are now available across Colorado.
High Line Pilsner is named for the 71-mile High Line Canal trail that connects communities across the Denver Metropolitan area’s most dense population with 27 walkable, equestrian and bike-friendly segments. At 5% ABV, this crisp, clean craft lager is an ideal aprés-adventure beer.
High Line Pilsner is the first of a canned German-style lager series at Living The Dream. It was first brewed two years ago, and its taproom popularity has only grown from there. Recent distribution expansion through Colorado Craft Distributors created an opportunity for the brewery to bring this fan favorite to a wider audience.
Living The Dream uses photographs as beer labels, many of which are taken by part-time photographer and full-time brewery General Manager Michael Acerra. "So I wanted to evoke that magical feeling of seeing a gorgeous sunset while riding your bike or hiking on a beautiful trail,” he says. “Almost like you have to pinch yourself to make sure this is real.”

Ska Brewing and Manhattan Brewing Release Canned Collaboration, 2 Tone IPA
Ska Brewing Friendship with Manhattan Brewing Sparks Modern IPA Now Available in Colorado and Kansas
MANHATTAN, KS— Ska Brewing and Manhattan Brewing Company will debut their collaboration IPA, 2 Tone, across Kansas with launch events today and tomorrow. 2 Tone IPA will also hit shelves and taps across Colorado and Kansas this week.
Jake Voegeli, who opened Manhattan Brewing in 2020 with Adam Kresbach and Garrett Paulmanwas, was formerly Ska’s Midwest Sales Manager in Kansas. Before that he was a starting center for the Kansas State University Wildcats. “Jake’s a local legend football player around Manhattan, and now he’s a thriving craft brewer,” says Peter Archer of Ska Brewing. “2 Tone was a reason for Jake to visit us in Durango, and now it’s our unofficial re-launch in Kansas after a quiet two years of pandemic.”
In the true spirit of collaboration, 2 Tone IPA was made at Ska with a pitch of Manhattan’s house yeast strain that they brought to Durango from Kansas. The two brewing teams hopped this batch with modern hop selections Sabro, Sultana and Idaho 7, and chose a hopping schedule to create juice instead of haze. This beer was brewed with the philosophy and technique that we developed through our Checkered Future IPA,” says Archer. “The hop additions are late, and there’s no real bittering addition either.”
2 Tone IPA cans sport purple and silver, Wildcat colors, and they’ll be available at retailers across Kansas and Colorado at liquor stores and on tap while supplies last. Find the Ska and Manhattan teams at these release events:
Thursday, June 23
Barley's Kitchen- Shawnee, KS + Tap, 3-6pm
Friday, June 24
2 Tone collaboration Lunch + Tap Takeover
The Anchor - Wichita, KS, 5-7pm

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Atibon Legba, louvre port-la pou mwen! Little good Legba, open the door for me! Pappy Legba Imperial Saison was originally created by Co-Owner and Head Brewer of Goat Patch Brewing Company, Darren Baze. It was brewed at Trinity Brewing Company until September 2017 when Jason Yester, Head Brewer and Owner at the time, gifted the rights of the beer to Darren.
The beer is a deceptively smooth 13.4% ABV Imperial Saison brewed with over one pound of cherries per gallon and aged in rye whiskey barrels from local distillery, Axe and the Oak.
“We recommend sharing the bottles, but only with the best of friends.”
