MONUMENT, CO — Pikes Peak Brewing releases the 2017 batch of the famed Incline IPA today. This Imperial IPA, named after the legendary Manitou Incline hiking trail in nearby Manitou Springs, is one of the brewery’s most popular beers.
The Incline Imperial IPA is a study in hopping, says Pikes Peak Brewing Founder and Head Brewer Chris Wright. Constructed to match the proportions of the steep Manitou Incline hike, it utilizes massive additions of Mosaic, Columbus, and Centennial Hops (more than three pounds per barrel) atop a light grain bill of mostly 2-row malt that helps the hops shine. “This beer is so fragrant and floral,” Wright says. “It’s an illustration of how you can take hopping to the extreme.”
Much like the Manitou Incline, this beer is not for the faint of heart. It clocks in at 10.5 percent ABV with a calculated 185 IBUs.
Incline Imperial IPA will be available in very limited quantities in 12-ounce 6-packs across the state of Colorado, and it wont last long. In past years this beer has sold out in a few short weeks.
