ARVADA, COLORADO – To celebrate their shared love of comic books, Odyssey Beerwerks, Odd13 Brewing, and Cannonball Creek Brewing have teamed up and brewed a pale ale, 3 Superheroes Walk Into A Brewery.

“Two of my greatest passions in life are beer and comic books,” says Chris Hill of Odyssey Beerwerks. “Getting to combine the two, in collaboration with friends at two other well respected breweries who share the same passions is something we’ve talked about doing for a long time. This beer is awesome!”

Comic book fans and beer fans alike can get their hands on draft pints and limited released 12 oz. cans of this collaboration at all three breweries during Free Comic Book day on Saturday, May 4.

“This beer is loaded with Amarillo, Galaxy, and Sabro hops, giving it supercharged floral, tropical, and citrus characteristics,” says Ryan Scott of Odd13 Brewing. “It’s a pale ale with extra special hop powers.”

A limited number of t-shirts commemorating the beer release will be available for purchase at all three breweries on May 4 as well as free comic books supplied by Mile High Comics.

“Beer and comic books have a symbiotic relationship,” says Jason Stengl of Cannonball Creek Brewing. “Both are forms of art and expression, and both have a little something for everyone.” In his pre-brewing life, Stengl worked for Mile High Comics. Collecting comics is still one of his passions.

Odyssey, Odd13, and Cannonball might not save the world with beer and free comic books, but they’re sure going to try.

Spice Trade Brewing Company Refreshes Flagship IPA, Sun Temple

Introducing a redesigned label and perfected recipe for Sun Temple IPA.

SunTempleRendering.jpg

ARVADA, CO— Spice Trade is celebrating the progress of the New Year and their flagship IPA with a redesigned label and perfected recipe for their Sun Temple IPA. The newly refreshed Sun Temple IPA is now available in the market across Spice Trade’s distribution footprint.

Sun Temple was originally developed by Spice Trade’s head brewer, Jeff Tyler, for years as a homebrew recipe in Boston during the initial “haze craze” before the trend made its way across the country and into mainstream brewing. Sun Temple was designed to be an explosion of hop flavor, using El Dorado, Citra, and Simcoe hops to deliver notes of peach, mango, and candy without the full-bodied thickness possessed by some of the style’s peers.

The new Sun Temple cans pop off the shelf in a vibrant array of orange and red to match the intensely vibrant flavors you’re sure to find inside each 12 oz. can.

“We're excited to launch this finely tuned recipe with a new can design,” says Tyler. “There are a lot of technical challenges with packaging such a hop forward beer. Since the first day of canning we have been subtly tweaking the Sun Temple recipe and brewing procedure to make this beer taste just like the draft version. Late last year we fine tuned the recipe and brewing procedures to perfectly highlight this beer’s huge hop flavor while maintaining a stable haze and body.”

The fundraiser will take place at the Odyssey Beerwerks taproom (5535 W. 56th Ave, Ste. 107, Arvada) on Saturday, September 29 from 2-9pm and features the release of the Old Dodge Irish Red Ale, a beer brewed in collaboration with Arvada firefighters.

Fire11172018_FinalV1.jpg

The party will kick off at 2pm with the official beer tapping at 3pm. Old Dodge Irish Red Ale is malt-focused ale that brings out the hearty flavors of fall with rich caramel and slightly roasted malts to create a solid foundation for a touch of smoked malt in the finish. The Old Dodge is named after Arvada’s first motorized fire engine from 1923, which will be on display during the fundraiser.

Firefighters from Arvada and all over Colorado will be in attendance with Old Dodge pint glasses and t-shirts available for purchase. Food truck Pambasos will be serving up authentic Mexican fare all day and Denver-based band, The Duke Street Kings, will be playing rock and roll and blues later in the evening

“The Old Dodge beer release is extra special, because this beer was brewed with Arvada firefighters,” says Chris Hill, owner of Odyssey Beerwerks. “It was a fun day having them come and participate in all steps of the brewing process.”

All proceeds from sales of the Old Dodge Irish Red Ale on September 29 will go towards the 9-11 Memorial fund along with a portion from sales of other beer styles.

ARVADA, COLORADO – Odyssey Beerwerks has named Jeff Griffith as Director of Brewery Operations. Griffith comes to Odyssey with more than 13 years of professional brewing experience, most recently as head brewer of FATE Brewing in Boulder.

During his tenure at FATE, Griffith helped open the 10 barrel brewpub in 2013 and developed the beer portfolio into what it is today. Awards for Griffith’s beers include GABF Gold in 2014 in the German-Style Kölsch category and numerous state and North American medals.

Griffith began his professional brewing career at Golden City Brewing in 2005 after homebrewing for over 10 years. His use of unique ingredients and techniques produces innovative yet easily drinkable beers.

Griffith will continue to brew Odyssey’s well-known flagships Ghost Drifter Pale Ale, Heliocentric Hefeweizen, Psycho Penguin Vanilla Porter, and Palm Tree Caribbean Lager, and looks to expand seasonal offerings to include barrel aged sours and other, more eclectic barrel aged beers. He is excited to brew for a full production brewery— Odyssey cans and distributes five core beers plus rotating seasonals— and develop new and interesting recipes while fine-tuning the flagship beers.

“We look forward to all of the fun and creative beers that Jeff is going to brew, as well as applying his experience and expertise to refining our core line-up and beer production schedule,” says Chris Hill, owner of Odyssey Beerwerks.

Arvada’s Oktoberfest, Firkin Tapping at Odyssey Beerwerks with Arvada Mayor Marc Williams August 17

Odyssey Beerwerks is excited to announce Oktoberfest 2018; the tapping of the brewery’ traditional German-style Märzen and Arvada’s annual party to celebrate the coming Fall

ARVADA, COLORADO— Odyssey Beerwerks is excited to announce Oktoberfest 2018; the tapping of the brewery’ traditional German-style Märzen and Arvada’s annual party to celebrate the coming Fall and the rich, malty beers indicative of the season. Oktoberfest will take place on Friday, August 17 at 7pm at the brewery (5535 W. 56th Ave., Ste. 107, Arvada, CO).

Arvada Mayor, Marc Williams, will tap the firkin — a small wooden cask — of Odyssey’s Oktoberfest Märzen. All beer served from the firkin will be free while it lasts.

“Oktoberfest beers, or Festbiers, were originally brewed for a celebration, and we’re carrying on that tradition,” says Chris Hill of Odyssey Beerwerks. “This is our third year to throw this party for the community, and everyone loves seeing the mayor and enjoying a free pint of beer.”

Immediately after the tapping, Denver-based band Polka Folka will be playing an eclectic mix of polkas, waltzes, folk, and dance music, and food truck Taste of Texas will be serving up a German-themed menu.

For more information about Odyssey Beerwerks’s Oktoberfest party and beer release, contact Chris Hill at info@odysseybeerwerks.com.

Spice Trade Brewing Debuts Cans of Chai Milk Stout and Sun Temple IPA, Announces Production Facility and New Brewpub in Planning

Brand new cans of Spice Trade Brewing’s Chai Milk Stout and Sun Temple IPA are now available at liquor stores and bars across Denver’s metro area.

ARVADA, CO —  Brand new cans of Spice Trade Brewing’s Chai Milk Stout and Sun Temple IPA are now available at liquor stores and bars across Denver’s metro area. With their debut comes the announcement of the brewery’s production facility and new brewpub in planning, slated for completion in 2018.

Chai Milk Stout epitomizes Spice Trade’s culinary and cultural style of brewing. This beer, awarded a silver medal at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival® in the Herb and Spice Beer category, is brewed with a secret family recipe blend of chai spices made in-house at Yak & Yeti Restaurants. The result is a chocolate and roast-forward stout that’s bursting with fresh chai tea aroma and flavor.

The Sun Temple IPA is the newest addition to Spice Trade’s core beer lineup. It’s a classic example of a juicy, hazy New England-style IPA fermented with a yeast strain that has evolved in Northern Vermont breweries. This IPA explodes with mango, peach, and citrus flavors but still finishes smooth and dry.

Spice Trade Brewing has acquired a 15 barrel brewhouse for the brewery’s new production facility (location TBD) that will set up shop in a separate location from the Yak & Yeti restaurant in Arvada. Plans also include a communal tasting room and beer garden, and a full kitchen to serve eclectic street food from around the world. Spice Trade’s beers will continue to fill the taps at all three of Yak & Yeti’s restaurant locations.
