Bootstrap Brewing Announces Double Lush Puppy Juicy IPA

Bootstrap Brewing debuts Double Lush Puppy Juicy IPA, with 1% of profits supporting the fostering, housing, and rehoming of Colorado dogs.

LONGMONT, COLORADO— Bootstrap Brewing announced today its Double Lush Puppy Juicy IPA will begin hitting store shelves in March through distribution partners in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah.

“When we released Lush Puppy Juicy IPA at 6.3% ABV in 2019, it became our #2 best-seller behind Insane Rush IPA. We wanted to take the same juicy, hazy characteristics of Lush Puppy and turn it into a 9.2% Imperial Juicy IPA that was easy-drinking, full of flavor and aroma, with value-pricing the consumer could afford,” explains Steve Kaczeus, Owner/Brewer of Bootstrap Brewing. “Thus was born Double Lush Puppy Juicy IPA with the perfect blend of hops and malt. Idaho 7 and Citra hops combine to give a tangerine flavor with notes of citrus, tropical fruits and stone fruits. Double Lush Puppy Juicy IPA is for both the casual beer drinker and the adventurous craft beer enthusiast who wants a little more cowbell.”

The company plans to donate 1% of beer sale profits this year to nonprofit groups and shelters focused on fostering, housing, and rehoming dogs. “We did a similar program with our Lush Puppy launch in 2019, and with the help of our distribution and on-premise partners were able to save a lot of pups that year and we’re planning to replicate that with this beer as well,” explained Leslie Kaczeus, Chief of Stuff for Bootstrap Brewing. “Coloradans love their dogs and it’s always fun to meet people who say they see their dog on our can artwork.”

Double Lush Puppy Juicy IPA is a tropical, citrusy, luscious IPA that encourages another sip. At 9.2% ABV and 41 IBUs, Double Lush Puppy will be available in 6 packs of 12oz cans and kegs for draft accounts.

Living The Dream Brings Back Zap! Smash! IPA in 2022

Living The Dream experimental IPA cans available across Colorado through Colorado Craft Distributors.

LITTLETON, CO.—  Zap! Smash! IPA by Living The Dream Brewing is now available for the second year, this time across Colorado through distribution with Colorado Craft Distributors.

“This beer and its label are a bit of a departure from our usual lineup,” says Living The Dream Brewing Founder Jason Bell. “Branching out with a more unique hop profile and working with local malt from Root Shoot Malting, we wanted to create a label that was just as unique as the beer.”

Zap! Smash! is an experimental IPA that came out of a partnership with Whole Foods in 2021. It was crafted with Zappa Hops, named in honor of Frank Zappa, and Colorado-grown Root Shoot Malting Genie Pale Malt. This refreshing 5.4% IPA yields flavors of mango, passionfruit, citrus, and pine. It will be available in canned 6-packs at the Living The Dream taproom, and across Colorado through Colorado Craft Distributors, while supplies last.

Ska Brewing and Fort Lewis College Debut Skyhawk Single Hop Sultana IPA To Showcase Hop Research

Ska Brewing and the Fort Lewis College Chemistry Department are pleased to present Skyhawk Single Hop Sultana IPA just in time for graduation weekend.

DURANGO, CO— After months of hop research and experimentation, Ska Brewing and the Fort Lewis College Chemistry Department are pleased to present Skyhawk Single Hop Sultana IPA just in time for graduation weekend.

Articulate detail was taken to choose the hop in the Skyhawk Single Hop Sultana IPA. This IPA is the product of undergraduate research on hop biotransformation, using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis. It’s a full-bodied, luscious IPA rich with huge tropical notes of pineapple and mango that weighs in at 6.50% ABV.

This collaboration seeks to understand how different hops alter the taste and aroma of beer, reducing the dependency on trial and error, and wasted hops. “We’ve been really excited about this research because it furthers our analytical view of hop varieties, transcending a deeper understanding of how hops perform in the brewing process beyond just flavors and aromas in the resulting beer,” says Ska Brewing Brewmaster Steve Breezley. “This is knowledge we can only gain through trials that we’re thrilled to have Fort Lewis as a partner for.”

“I really appreciate the environmental science perspective on this project because that is really the end goal,” says Callie A. Cole, PhD  Associate Professor at Fort Lewis College Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. “By developing these methods with Ska Brewing, we are hoping to ultimately have a positive environmental impact by increasing the efficiency of hopped beer production and reducing the demand on hops. It’s why people will fund this research. It’s a strong motivation for Ska to be involved as well as other breweries to be interested in this data.”

Skyhawk Single Hop Sultana IPA will tap on Fort Lewis’ 2022 commencement day, Saturday May 14, at Ska Brewing at 11am. The beer will be on draft only while supplies last.

Ska Brewing Mesa Guava IPA Comes to Year-Round Canned Fruit-ion

Ska Brewing will bring the Southwest-inspired flavors of its Mesa Guava IPA to all of its distribution states this week.

DURANGO, CO— Ska Brewing will bring the Southwest-inspired flavors of its Mesa Guava IPA to all of its distribution states this week.

Mesa Guava IPA first debuted as a limited batch in cans in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona earlier this year. Now it’s back due to popular demand, joining the year-round portfolio and hitting all of Ska’s markets.

This new IPA was born through a brainstorm with Whole Foods. Fitting for both its Central American roots from which ska music originates and its compatibility with hop-forward flavors, guava was selected as this IPA’s key ingredient. Bold notes of Trident, Strata, and Idaho 7 hops meet tropical undertones in this balanced, medium-bodied beer.

“The fruit reinforces this beer’s sense of place at Ska and in the Southwest,” says Ska Brewing Co-Founder and CEO Dave Thibodeau. “Follow the mesa country to where the fruit originated from, and you’ll find the cultural inspiration for Ska Brewing.”

“I’ve been wanting to do something with guava as long as I’ve lived in the Southwest,” adds Kristen Muraro, Ska’s Sales and Marketing Director and 20+ year Durango local. “I’m excited, too, because this beer will be the first to join Ska’s year-round canned beer portfolio since the release of Double Hazy IPA cans earlier in spring.”

Mesa Guava IPA debuts at Ska’s World Headquarters in Durango on Friday, September 10. It will be available in 6-packs in all eleven of Ska’s distribution states on a year-round basis.

Living The Dream Brewing and Whole Foods Release Zap! Smash! IPA

Zap! Smash! was crafted with Zappa Hops, named in honor of Frank Zappa, and Colorado-grown Root Shoot Genie Pale Malt.

LITTLETON, CO– Living The Dream Brewing is excited to release an experimental IPA in collaboration with the Highlands Ranch, Colorado Whole Foods branch. Zap! Smash! is now available for locally minded beer lovers.

Zap! Smash! was crafted with Zappa Hops, named in honor of Frank Zappa, and Colorado-grown Root Shoot Genie Pale Malt. This refreshing 5.4% IPA yields flavors of mango, passionfruit, citrus, and pine.

“Whole Foods reached out to us when their Highlands Ranch Store took on a full liquor license, and we were thrilled to partner with them on beer to celebrate their commitment to supporting local. We decided on a single malt and single hop beer, or S.M.A.S.H, beer featuring Colorado’s own Root Shoot Malting, and highlighting Zappa hops— a native North American hop variety,” explains Living The Dream founder Jason Bell. “The name came about as Zappa and SMASH reminded us of the old superhero shows where the action was accentuated by the large word bubbles like POW, BAM, etc.”

Zap! Smash! is now available in limited quantities in 12oz. canned 6-packs at the Living The Dream’s tasting room. Find it at Whole Foods South Denver Metro locations beginning September 15, while supplies last.

Ska Brewing Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Groundbreaking Modus Hoperandi IPA in a can

Bring on the Summer of Modus.

IMG_9739.jpg

DURANGO, CO— Ska Brewing, home to Colorado’s OG IPA in a can, is celebrating 10 years of its Modus Hoperandi recipe with custom label artwork, specialty merchandise, and a summer full of Modus events and specials. Bring on the Summer of Modus.

A nod to its punny name, Modus Hoperandi was the first of many India Pale Ales that helped establish Ska as a skilled IPA house, and one of the country’s original canned IPAs when it debuted in 2009. To-date, this beer is one of Ska and Colorado’s most award-winning, with recognitions in seven national and another seven international beer award programs— including the Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival and the European Beer Star. Modus will go down as the first canned IPA available in Sweden, and a convert beer for many a macro fizzy lager drinker in Colorado and beyond. Earlier this year, USA Today called Modus one of America’s most delicious beers.

Modus Hoperandi is a beer that the Ska team has put the most effort into developing, says Ska Brewing co-founder and CEO Dave Thibodeau. It was a rigorous process that included blind tasting every Colorado IPA they could get their hands on. “We knew that we wanted pine, and citrus, and Ska staff palates lead us toward Modus’ bold flavor and 6.8 percent ABV,” he adds.

Ska is celebrating the 10th anniversary of this groundbreaking IPA in a can with a limited Modus Hoperandi and Modus Mandarina 12-pack (six of each IPA) and custom cans, with deals and events all summer long.

Share your Modus story with the hashtag #mymodusmemories and follow along to celebrate the 10th anniversary of one of Colorado’s favorite IPAs.
