Resolute Brewing Rebrands, Invests More In Local Malt, Shares Community Influence in 2022 Year In Review

Resolute Brewing’s commitment to Be Resolute shines in their 2022 impact reporting.

COLORADO— For Resolute Brewing, community is everything. The brewery just reported numbers, philanthropic impact, a greater investment in local ingredients, and an ongoing rebrand.

Here is their 2022 Year In Review.

In 2022, Resolute embarked upon a rebrand to present a more refined aesthetic. They debuted their new logo, glassware, and merchandise in the fall, and have 2023 plans to integrate the new branding into the design of their taprooms.

Resolute Brewing produced around 1000 BBL of beer in 2022 by Head Brewer Kyle Larkin and Brewers Nico Cervantes and Ethan Munoz. Its original location in Centennial is the site of brewing operations, while the Arvada Tap & Cellar location is the home of the company’s barrel aging projects. Of note in 2022 was Resolute’s shift to Denver local Leopold Bros. as their primary base malt provider.

“Leopold Bros. is producing super high quality floor malted grain,” says Larkin. “Their Pilsner malt is in many of our mainstays, and we use as much of their other malt styles as we can. I love sourcing locally and we’re grateful to have such a strong connection with our maltster.”

Larkin and the whole Resolute team were overjoyed to receive the brewery’s first Great American Beer Festival® medal for their German-Style Doppelbock category for Execrator Doppelbock. Resolute was also awarded a gold medal at the 2022 Best of Craft Beer Awards for the Doinkinbonk Porter.

Throughout the year, Resolute hosted events for and donated more than $5000 to more than 20 local philanthropic organizations including; Hog Haven Farm, Special Olympics, Project Helping, Ray of Hope Cancer foundation, Rainbow Alley and Pawsitive Restoration.

Resolute is extremely proud to provide community spaces that, beyond serving as comfortable gathering places, also give back to their communities in Centennial and Arvada. These taprooms function under the leadership of General Manager Jamie Gibbs, Arvada Taproom Manager Ashley Nikel, and 13 rockstar bartenders committed to great hospitality. Resolute has 19 team members total, including Lucas Wattles who supports Resolute’s can distribution across Colorado’s Front Range.

Resolute is excited for the year ahead, with collaborations, new beers, and more community events underway. Stay tuned on their website and social media channels for updates.

The Empourium Brewing Celebrates Three Years of Craft Beer in Denver’s Berkeley Neighborhood April 15 and 16

In the truest fashion for this spirited Denver craft brewery, their three anniversary beers are named with some of their favorite movie references.

DENVER, CO— Three times is a charm for The Empourium Brewing Company, who will commemorate three years in business with their Anniversary Party on April 15 and 16. This will be the first year that the Berkeley neighborhood brewery can celebrate to the fullest without COVID closure or restrictions, and you’re invited.

The Empourium will release three beers in honor of the occasion. In the truest fashion for this spirited brewery, these beers are named with some of their favorite pop culture references. On Friday April 15, look for the release of a Zoiglbier called You Son Of A Bitch I’m In! This bottom-fermented lager will be poured straight from the fermenter for guests to see through the glass brewery doors.

The Empourium will bring back its cold, lager yeast-fermented IPA, Freezing My Nay Nays Off, on Saturday April 16. Also debuting Saturday, the third beer is a farmhouse ale, Don't Have a Good Day, Have a Great Day, crafted with juniper berries and lemon peel, and fermented with Norwegian kveik yeast.

Come for the beer, stay for the live music and fresh eats from The Empourium’s favorite food trucks. On Friday, Man of 1000 Songs will play at 6pm, and on Saturday Stephen Castle will kick off live music at 1pm followed by The Traveling Rose Band at 3pm. Little Red’s Kitchen will serve on Friday, and Pho King Rapidos will roll up on Saturday. This anniversary weekend also marks the last weekend for the brewery’s extended patio, which will scale back in the recovery days after the party.

After three years, The Empourium has become a Tennyson Street staple. The brewery is excited to expand their self distribution in 2022. They plan to experiment with barrel aged beers and new flavors, with no plans of stopping their movie-inspired beer names.

“We feel like this is the first year in our company history that we get to have this celebration as intended,” says The Empourium co-founder Sara Fetzer. “We couldn’t have gotten through these last three years without our community, so we’re thrilled to welcome them out to drink these new beers with us.”

If you’d like to attend or cover this anniversary celebration, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com

Fermly and Resolute Brewing Present Arnold Palmer-Inspired Guild-Tee Party Beer For The Colorado Brewers Guild

Guild Tee Party was brewed to create the classic flavor profile of an Arnold Palmer, perfect for a late spring tee time.

DENVER, CO— Fermly, an independent lab for brewers based in Denver, debuts its latest collaboration this week. Guild-Tee Party was brewed with the Resolute Brewing team to support the Colorado Brewers Guild.

Guild Tee Party was brewed to create the classic flavor profile of an Arnold Palmer, perfect for a late spring tee time. Brewed with Pilsen and Cologne malt from BSG, Carafoam from Weyermann Malt, and Orange Pekoe tea from The Tea Spot in Boulder; and hopped with Magnum hops and tea in the boil to begin the first steps of infusion.

“The wort tasted like black tea but heavily sweetened,” says Emily Wang, Co-Founder and Lead Scientist at Fermly. “All of those fermentable sugars were broken down by Inland Island Golden Kolsch yeast to create an idyllic crispy profile. Whole lemon puree was added after fermentation. Best recommended to enjoy in collared shirts and well-coiffed lawns.”

Guild-Tee Party was served at the annual Colorado Brewers Guild golf tournament, and it made its debut at both of Resolute’s tasting rooms in Arvada and Centennial this week.

“Teaming up with Fermly for the CBG Tourney was a no-brainer. Emily and Danny provide an incredible service for us and many other breweries around the state,” says Andrew Duvall, Community & Sales Manager at Resolute Brewing. “Guild-Tee Party showcases their talents while celebrating a grand return to hanging out with all the awesome folks we so dearly missed in 2020. Ultimately, we miss doing kickass things with our friends in the industry, so we brewed about it! Also, the CBG helped us navigate so many obstacles throughout the pandemic by providing constant updates and guidance, while advocating for legislation such as direct-to-consumer deliveries. We would've been lost without them, so this beer is for the Executive Director Shawnee and company!”

Our Mutual Friend Presents Hear Me Out IPA in Collaboration with Fermly

Hear Me Out— this IPA was brewed with quality ingredients from some of Our Mutual Friend’s favorite suppliers and shaped by the data and insight Fermly provided throughout the brewing process.

DSC06570.jpg

DENVER, CO— Fermly, an independent lab for brewers based in Denver, has teamed up with Our Mutual Friend on a new IPA. Hear Me Out— this IPA was brewed with quality ingredients from some of Our Mutual Friend’s favorite suppliers and shaped by the data and insight Fermly provided throughout the brewing process.

Hear Me Out is a fruit-forward Tropical IPA with notes of guava, mango and pineapple. This 8.9% ABV IPA was crafted with malt from Root Shoot Malting, fermented with Kveik yeast from Inland Island Yeast, and hopped with the Pink Boots Society and Zythos hop blends from Yakima Chief Hops.

The owners at Fermly and Our Mutual Friend share the belief that by working across industries, you are able to learn more, work better together, and make even better beer. This belief inspired Hear Me Out IPA.

"I've been working with Fermly for a few years now, and they have been a tremendous partner in helping us make the best beer we possibly can," says Head Brewer, Jan Chodkowski. "The expertise they provide helps us dial in our recipes and assures us that we are putting out quality products. An awesome bonus is that they are rad people and are just as passionate about beer as we are."

Our Mutual Friend has crafted collaborations with other suppliers, but this was the first one they’ve done with an independent research lab. Danny Wang, Fermly’s Co-Founder and Information Architect, adds, “A major motivation behind Fermly is to help brewers succeed by providing them with better access to information that helps improve the quality of the beers they brew. Being involved in Our Mutual Friend’s recipe development and brewing process was a treat.”

Hear Me Out can be found on tap at Our Mutual Friend, and in 16-ounce four-packs while supplies last.

For more information about Fermly or this collaboration, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com.

ABOUT OUR MUTUAL FRIEND BREWING

Our Mutual Friend Brewing opened in December of 2012 with the goal of creating a place for community through their small neighborhood taproom in the up and coming River North (RiNo) neighborhood. Starting on a 31-gallon brew system, they worked tirelessly to understand the techniques and history of beer while looking forward to where craft beer was heading. Doing so influenced their vision to create beers with a sense of place, forging relationships with Colorado hop and barley growers, and has allowed them to offer as many 100% Colorado grown beers as possible. In 2015 they earned a silver medal in the wood and barrel aged sour category at the Great American Beer Festival for 24FPS, a 100% Colorado mixed-culture fermentation barrel-aged sour beer.

In 2017 OMF continued its organic growth, increasing capacity to meet demand and offer traditional styles while still being afforded the opportunity for experimentation. 2016 and 2017 saw OMF receiving back to back silver medals at GABF in the brett beer category for Dreamy Thing (a collaboration with Cerebral Brewing) and Saison Trystero as well as a bronze medal in International Pale Ale for Inner Light in 2020.

Comrade Brewing To Tap Fresh Batch of GABF Winner More Dodge Less RAM

GABF®-winning More Dodge Less RAM IPA taps at noon on Saturday, November 9.

Image-5.jpeg

DENVER, CO— Off the tails of their 2019 GABF® Small Brewing Company of the Year recognition, Comrade Brewing will release a fresh batch of its Great American Beer Festival®-winning More Dodge Less RAM IPA, at noon on Saturday, November 9.

More Dodge Less RAM is a stronger triple-dry hopped sister of Superpower IPA that took gold in the second most-entered category of this year’s GABF competition. More Dodge Less RAM is hopped with Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, and the hop formerly known as Denali. It weighs in at 7.8% ABV.

Named after that one time a Dodge Ram plowed into the brewery three years ago, and now Comrade brews More Dodge Less RAM twice each year. “We’ve been overwhelmed with requests to try the gold medal winner, we’ve decided to brew it a third time for 2019” saya David Lin, founder of Comrade Brewing. “It was a serious crash that caused over $50k in damage and prevented us from brewing for more than 2 weeks. I remember saying that we’d look back on it one day and laugh about it. Funny how things work, because if that truck never crashed into the brewery, we would have never brewed this beer.”

The much anticipated of this More Dodge Less RAM is going down at Comrade Brewing this Saturday, November 9. This award-winning beer will be on draft while supplies last.

For more information about Comrade Brewing or More Dodge Less Ram IPA, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com

The Empourium Opens Doors in Denver's Berkeley Neighborhood

The Empourium, Denver’s newest independent brewery, will open its doors West 42nd Avenue, March 29.

DENVER, CO— The Empourium, Denver’s newest independent brewery, will open its doors in the Berkeley neighborhood beginning March 29.

Located in the heart of North West Denver on the corner of Tennyson Street and West 42nd Avenue, the Empourium is designed as a warm, welcoming, and lively hub for residents and travelers alike with a goal of providing clean, sessionable beers.

“We always wanted to be a neighborhood brewery,” explains Co-Owner and Head Brewer Greg Fetzer. “Being a neighborhood brewery we want to know our customers by name and understand their beer preferences. It’s important that customers are able to walk in and feel like this is their brewery.”

Located alongside César Chávez Park, Empourium is home to a 1500 square foot tasting room with 12 taps, a sprawling mural by Drew Button across the entire west wall, and large south facing windows which lead to a spacious dog-friendly patio. Separated by a glass wall, is the brewery’s ten barrel brewhouse used to brew a wide variety of sessionable beers. Bang-A-Rang Brut IPA; Peace, Love & Pale Ale; Krusher Cream Ale with peaches apricots, and vanilla beans; Gettin' Schwifty Saison, and Conditions of My Parole Coffee Blonde will be the first beers available.

In addition to an emphasis on customer service, The Emporium aims to center their focus on sustainable, deliberate growth alongside their community. The brewery plans to take root in the Historic Tennyson St. Shopping District and participate in First Friday Art Walks, Totally Tennyson and other neighborhood-specific events.

“We looked at a number of neighborhoods throughout Denver and very few have the character and pride that Berkeley does,” explains co-owner Sara Fetzer. The neighborhood has done a great job of maintaining their unique district outside of Denver as a whole. You talk to the people that live there and there really is a sense of pride that comes with being a long Tennyson and in Berkeley. It's contagious!”

The Empourium is owned by Greg and Sara Fetzer, and partners Mike Cugini, and Justin Vallely. For more information about Berkeley’s craft brewery, contact Emily Hutto at coop@radcraftbeer.com.

Comrade Brewing Donates Over $8K to Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund

Comrade Brewing Company is proud to announce a $8,818.50 donation to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund.

Image-14.png

DENVER, CO— Comrade Brewing Company is proud to announce a $8,818.50 donation to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund to support general community relief efforts for the catastrophic wildfires that roared through Butte County in Northern California on Nov. 8, 2018.

In November, Comrade Brewing joined over 1,400 craft breweries across the United States to brew Resilience IPA with the intent to donate 100 percent of sales to support victims of the Camp Fire.

“We jumped at the opportunity to support Sierra Nevada and their national fundraising campaign after learning about the devastation and thinking of all those affected,” explains Comrade Brewing founder, David Lin. “Reception has been tremendous from the Colorado community. There were numerous people, who don’t drink beer, that heard about this collaborative effort and came to the brewery to “buy” pints and just donate without taking the beer.”

Comrade’s iteration of Resilience IPA was tapped at the brewery on December 15 and was available for just over 2 months.

Marks Lanham, Comrade’s Brewmaster, stated, “This beer wouldn’t have been possible without the logistics from Sierra Nevada Brewing and the generosity of our raw materials suppliers. BSG CraftBrewing, and Yakima Chief Hops donated ingredients and Lightning Labels donated supplies.” Comrade also donated yeast and hops for the beer.

Thirsty Monk Debuts First of Several Crooked Stave Collaborations, BBR IPA

The first of several Thirsty Monk and Crooked Stave collaborations will tap in Denver in coming weeks and months.

ThirstyMonk+CrookedStave-2.jpg

DENVER, CO— Thirsty Monk, brewer of Belgian-Rooted Modern Ales and operator of world-recognized craft beer and craft cocktail bars, will tap the first of several collaboration beers with Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project this week. This collaboration, the Brett Brut Rose IPA otherwise known as BBR IPA, is available on draft only while supplies last at Thirsty Monk’s Denver location.

When Crooked Stave owner and founder Chad Yakobson visited Thirsty Monk to taste beers before this collaboration, the Brut IPA was his favorite. Thirsty Monk’s Head Brewer Brian Grace  worked at Crooked Stave as Head Brewer for several years, and he’s excited about the opportunity to continue to work with Yakobson and crew.

“We talked about the Brut style and how we both thought that using German hops instead of the typical IPA hops that people are using would lend a more wine-like aroma and make the style more along the lines of what we like to drink,” Grace says. “The hibiscus and rose petals were something that Chad and I have talked about using over the years when I worked at Crooked Stave so we went for it! These additions, along with Hallertau Blanc, Huell Melon, Mandarina Bavaria, Centennial and Amarillo give the beer a pink hue and floral, citrus and berry-like aromas. Naturally, any collaboration with Crooked Stave should include Brettanomyces…. the conversations continued from there and this beer was born.”

BBR is the first of several Thirsty Monk and Crooked Stave collaborations to tap in Denver in coming weeks and months.

For more information about Thirsty Monk and Crooked Stave’s collaboration beers, contact Emily Hutto at coop@radcraftbeer.com.

Crooked Stave’s progressive approach to brewing blends science and art through creativity and passion. The resulting creations, most of which use Brettanomyces yeasts and mature in oak, are beers of extraordinary complexity.
