Ska Brewing Unleashes Two Bold New Brews and a Game-Changing 12-Pack Assortment
DURANGO, CO— Ska Brewing Co. is excited to announce a double dose of refreshment with the release of two innovative new beers alongside a revamped packaging offering that brings fan-favorite seasonal brews into a year-round lineup.
Building on the popularity of Ska’s time-honored Mexican Logger, Lime Logger with Salt delivers a tangy, invigorating twist. This light, 5% ABV, crushable lager balances zesty lime with a subtle salinity— offering a crisp, refreshing flavor that evokes a sunny afternoon in a can.
“This new variant is a natural evolution of our Logger family,” said Ska President, Dave Thibodeau. “I always squeeze a lime into my original Mexican Logger anyway and now I can skip the step… getting me 2 or 3 seconds closer to my next beer.”
To celebrate this new release, Ska Brewing is launching a variety 12-pack that showcases the full Mexican Logger lineup:
Mexican Logger (Original) – The time-honored, refreshingly crisp lager that started it all in 1999.
Mexican-Style Cold IPA – A unique "Cold IPA" brewed with agave, offering a crisp and invigorating taste.
Lime Logger with Salt – The latest addition, combining bright lime flavors with subtle salinity.
No strangers to fruited IPA’s, Ska is pushing the boundaries with its second new release and most fruit-forward brew to date, Guava Stomper Juicy IPA. Guava Stomper pours a hazy pink hue, releasing vibrant aromas of tropical fruit and citrus. The flavor profile is dominated by juicy guava, complemented by citrusy hop notes, all balanced by a soft, pillowy mouthfeel that leads to a smooth, satisfying finish. It's a tropical vacation packed into a pint, transporting drinkers to paradise with every sip.
Six-packs of Guava Stomper and Lime Logger with Salt, as well as the complete Logger Variety 12-Pack are now available in all of Ska Brewing markets. These offerings underscore Ska's commitment to innovation and excellence in every can.

Colorado can’t get enough of Lone Tree’s Mexican Lager— this three-time Great American Beer Festival® winner started as a draft-only beer; and like all of the brewery’s canned offerings, it was so popular in the tasting room that it eventually graduated to a can back in 2015. Today you can also buy 12-packs of this crowd-pleasing, year-round crusher; and the Mexican Lager style is more popular than ever before. So popular, in fact, that Lone Tree created a new lime-infused variant of it to welcome longer, warmer days.
Introducing Lime Mexican Lager in cans, yet another Lone Tree draft offering turned packaged beer. Its base is Lone Tree’s classic 5.3% ABV Mexican-style Lager recipe with the addition of real lime purée.
“We’ve received overwhelming positive feedback on this beer at our two tasting rooms in Lone Tree and Parker,” says Lone Tree Brewing Director of Tasting Rooms Michael Webster. “There’s genuine enthusiasm for how refreshing the Lime Mexican Lager is on a summer day. Combine that with strong sales data, and we saw this beer was a perfect candidate for our next seasonal can.”
Lone Tree Brewing Mug Club members get first access to this new beer on Friday, June 7. It will be available to the public on draft and in cans to-go at both Lone Tree locations on Saturday, June 8. LONE TREE, CO— In 2023, Lone Tree Brewing won a coveted GABF® medal for its best-selling Mexican Lager, introduced 12-packs of said lager to distribution, contributed $4,500 to causes the brewery cares about, and celebrated 12 years in the Colorado craft beer business.
Here is the 2023 Lone Tree Brewing Company Year In Review.
Beer In Review
Lone Tree brought back its popular Hefeweizen, Oktoberfest, and Vanilla Caramel Amber in seasonal cans in 2023, and also introduced the year-round SKU Blueberry Blonde and winter seasonal Brownie Stout across Colorado and Kansas. In the fall, the legendary Hop Zombie Imperial Red IPA crept on tasting room taps for one day only. In the winter, the brewery introduced Brownie Stout in cans.
This year Lone Tree also introduced 12-packs of its flagship and decorated Mexican Lager. This beer, Lone Tree’s top seller, won its third Great American Beer Festival® medal, a silver in the American Light Lager category at the 2023 awards.
Production
Lone Tree produced 3,543 barrels of beer in 2023, using 239,000 pounds of grain and 3,600 pounds of hops. Lone Tree filled 570,048 cans last year.
Throughout the year, the brewery recaptured 130,820 gallons of water and reused pallet wraps that saved 400 pounds of plastic wrap from landfills.
Sales & Distribution
Lone Tree sold beer across Colorado and Kansas through longstanding distribution partnerships; Western Distributing and Ska Brewing in Colorado, and Worldwide Beverage Group in Kansas.
Community and Events
Lone Tree’s philanthropic contributions totaled $4,500 in 2023. Among the recipients were Drink for Pink, Big Dogs Huge Paws, the Evans Scholarship Fund, Douglas County Libraries, the Honor Bell Foundation, and the Moving Mountains Animal Rescue. The third annual Douglas County School District Bridge Transition Program & Lone Tree Brewing car show raised more than $12,000 that helps facilitate the transition from school to the adult world through meaningful learning opportunities within the classroom and community.
In 2023, Lone Tree presented its annual market series including the Summer, Oktoberfest and Fall Craft markets; each featuring more than 20 local craft vendors.
Exciting for Lone Tree Brewing’s tasting room customers is the installation of a new photo wall that sports Lone Tree’s slogan, Take Root Grow Friends. Social media selfies are encouraged, with the hashtag #takerootgrowfriends.
In December of 2023, Lone Tree celebrated 12 years in business with four specialty beers made for the occasion. The brewery extends gratitude to its friends and family for coming out to celebrate another successful year in business.
Moving Forward
“We’re always giving our portfolio close examination to stay nimble in the dynamic Colorado beer marketplace, and we’re pleased to see consumer demand for styles that we love to brew the most— including lagers, fruit beer, and traditional European styles,” says Lone Tree Brewing Sales & Marketing Director Dennis Stack. “We’re thrilled that our customers love Hefeweizen and Oktoberfest, two seasonals that sold out rapidly last year. Both of those beers will return in 2024, along with two new seasonal cans: Juicy IPA in spring, and building upon the momentum of the Mexican Lager category with Lime Mexican Lager in summer.”
Lone Tree will celebrate the grand opening of its second location in Parker (at 18425 Pony Express Drive) on Friday, March 1. After years of searching for another space, the company is thrilled to expand in 2024.

LONE TREE, CO— Lone Tree Brewing is now a proud three-time recipient of medals in the Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) American Light Lager category.
The first of these medals was a silver in 2015. Then in 2017, Lone Tree became the first independently owned craft brewery to win gold in the style category. As of this summer, customers can now purchase this flagship in a 12-pack in Colorado and Kansas.
With 284 entries, Light Lager was the third highest entered category at this year’s competition and the most entered lager category.

Lone Tree Brewing Releases Award-Winning Mexican Lager in 12-Packs
Mexican Lager is one of 11-year-old Lone Tree Brewing’s classic recipes that has undoubtedly helped to familiarize the Colorado beer market with this now trending lager style.
LONE TREE, CO— After fielding requests for more of its most popular recipe for years, Lone Tree Brewing is finally giving customers what they desire: 12-packs of Mexican Lager.
Mexican Lager is one of the 11-year-old brewery’s classic recipes that has undoubtedly helped to familiarize the Colorado beer market with this now trending lager style. Lone Tree Brewing first packaged this crowd favorite, formerly known as Summer Siesta on draft, after its 2015 Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) win. It earned a silver medal in the American Style Lager category that year, making Lone Tree the first craft brewery to win in that style category (followed closely by Sycamore Brewing who won a bronze medal in the category). In 2017, Lone Tree Mexican Lager received the gold medal, the first time an independent brewery has come out on top in this style category. The lager got a new look in 2018 when the brewery refreshed its branding.
“We’ve gotten requests to package Mexican Lager in an accessible 12-pack for years now,” says Lone Tree Brewing Sales & Marketing Director Dennis Stack. “We anticipated that craft lagers by the dozen would go on trend across the Colorado beer scene soon, and it seems that time is now… just in time to celebrate Cinco De Mayo and the longer days ahead.”
Mexican Lager 12-packs will join 6-packs of the famed lager on shelves across Colorado and in select locations in Kansas in coming weeks.

Spring Returns to Durango in a can
Ska Brewing Mexican Logger Is Back For the 23rd Patio Season
DURANGO, CO– Some call it springing forward, others say the start of patio weather, and in Southwest Colorado this time of year has come to be known as Mexican Logger season. 2022 marks the twenty third year that Ska Brewing has brewed the original craft lager, and a return to normalcy for the brewery that hasn’t celebrated this release for three years.
Ska has brewed this easy-drinking light lager since 1999, and received many accolades for it since— including Great American Beer Festival® awards in the International Style Pilsner category in 2015 and 2016. It’s crisp and clean, cold fermented with a lager yeast strain from Mexico City and weighing in at a crushable 5 percent ABV.
Ska is thrilled to celebrate the kickoff of spring with this beer release on Thursday, March 31. Durango locals The Lawn Chair Kings will play beginning at 5pm, and brewery-goers can expect beer and food specials to celebrate the occasion. “Without this party to kickoff the season, I just wake up one day drinking beer in the middle of the summer without realizing it even began,” says Ska Brewing CEO Dave Thibodeau. “Patio season deserves a proper kickoff this year.”
In 2020, Ska released Mexican Logger’s dark-hued sister to satisfy the urge for Mexican-style Lager during the cold months. Mexican-style Lager Dark will go into hibernation now until the fall.

Ska Brewing Mexican-Style Lager Dark Returns
Mexican-Style Lager Dark returns today, and will be available through the cold season.
DURANGO, CO– The days of seasonal disappointment over the loss of Ska Brewing Mexican Logger are over. Mexican-Style Lager Dark returns today, and will be available through the cold season.
Smooth and malty, this dark-colored lager is balanced with a mild bitterness from Tettnang, Cascade, and Saaz hops. Subtle caramel flavors and a touch of roast on the finish round it all out, giving it that warm darkness perfect for the chillier days ahead.
“We knew we needed an easy-drinking beer that could hold its own in the fall and winter months when Mexican Logger goes into hibernation,” says Ska Brewing COO Steve Breezley. “We spent three winters perfecting Mexican-Style Lager Dark— a true labor of love, and of lagers.”
In traditional Ska fashion, this tasting room favorite necessitated availability in a can. Following a brief late-season appearance in 2021, this fall marks Mexican-Style Lager Dark’s full-season debut. It will now be available until Mexican Logger returns in the spring. Look for it across Ska’s nine-state distribution starting October 5. The beer is on tap at Ska’s World Headquarters in Durango through fall and winter.

Ska Brewing To Release Mexican Logger April 4
Ska Mexican Logger is crisp, clean, and refreshing — made for hot afternoons with a side of lime.
Mexican Logger will be available at Ska Brewing’s World Headquarters in Durango on Wednesday, April 4, where you can catch Buster’s Ghost live at 5pm and pick up the season's first 6-packs of this beloved craft lager.
Ska brewed this beer for the first time long before Mexican lager was a hot craft beer style, back in 1999. Mexican Logger was Ska’s first session beer back then, long before session beers were a thing. The beer first hit cans more than ten years later in 2011, and then won back-to-back Great American Beer Festival® awards in the International Style Pilsner category in 2015 and 2016.
Ska Mexican Logger is crisp, clean, and refreshing — made for hot afternoons with a side of lime. The beer is a crushable 5 percent ABV, and brewed with a lager yeast strain from Mexico City. That same yeast strain now ferments Ska’s Rue B. Soho Grapefruit Lager as well.
Mexican Logger will be available in 12 oz. cans and on-draft in Colorado, Arizona, Southern California, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah the first week of April.

What Lone Tree Brewing Company's GABF Win Means For Craft
Given GABF’s rigorous judging process and the competition-heavy category, Mexican Lager’s performance stands as a testament to the passion and prowess of Josh West and the rest of Lone Tree’s team.
Photos by Colin Bridge, Words by Brody Leonard
Since its genesis in 1987, the Great American Beer Festival’s “American-Style Lager” category has been dominated by the goliaths of the beer industry. Pabst Blue Ribbon, Coors Banquet and other such frat party fodder took home the gold year after year. That is until 2017, when the little guys brought out the big guns. This year, Lone Tree Brewing Co. took gold with one well-placed missile: their Mexican Lager.
Straight out of Lone Tree, CO, this small brewery is serving up some game-changing beers. Formerly known as their Summer Siesta Mexican Lager, this brew’s medal marks the first time an independently owned brewery has come out on top in this style category. With movements such as Take Back Craft gaining momentum, this is big news in the brewing community.
That said, it’s not the first time a craft brewery has come close to dethroning the likes of Pabst, Coors and Miller. Lone Tree’s Mexican Lager (under its previous name) earned a silver medal at GABF 2015.
North Carolina-based Sycamore Brewing has also had success in this style category. Their Sun Grown Fresh Craft Lager earned bronze this year, as did their Southern Girl Lager in 2015. In fact, their 2015 bronze medal prompted them to collaborate with Lone Tree Brewing on an Imperial Pale Lager. The result, Breakthrough IPL, was a celebration of the two breweries almost unseating Pabst that year.
This year, almost is no longer. While Lone Tree’s head brewer, Josh West, humbly attributes the win to a “lucky alignment of the judges’ tastes that day,” happenstance seems unlikely.
Crisp and crushable, Mexican Lagers have been a trending style in the craft beer world. There is no specific Mexican Lager category at GABF— yet— and accordingly, this style is judged under the umbrella of American-Style Lager.
This broad category attracted 75 entries this year. Lone Tree’s victory amounts to more than the gustatory whims of a panel of beer-drinking experts.
After all, the judging process at GABF is an intensive process. Without knowing the beer’s brand or brewery, judges sit down and taste brews to determine three world-class beers in each category. The GABF Awards Philosophy states that a beer must display “the proper balance of taste, aroma and appearance” in order to be awarded a gold medal.
According to the U.S. Brewers Association, an exemplary American-Style Lager should boast a straw or golden hue. Malt sweetness should be very low, as should hop aroma and overall bitterness. In short, “American Lagers [should be] very clean and crisp, and aggressively carbonated.”
Given GABF’s rigorous judging process and the competition-heavy category, Mexican Lager’s performance stands as a testament to the passion and prowess of Josh West and the rest of Lone Tree’s team.
“We were one medal away from winning Small Brewery of the Year,” remarked West. “This year’s medals are immensely motivating — we’re very excited to see what we can do at next year’s Great American Beer Festival.”
