Bootstrap Brewing Announces Sparkalicious Greyhound Hard Seltzers in 6-packs
LONGMONT, CO — Bootstrap Brewing announced today their Greyhound Sparkalicious Hard Seltzer is now available in 6-packs.
LONGMONT, CO — Bootstrap Brewing announced today their Greyhound Sparkalicious Hard Seltzer is now available in 6-packs. As one of the three delicious flavors in Bootstrap’s Sparkalicious Hard Seltzer Party Pack, Greyhound has risen to the top as a fan favorite.
“We’ve received so many requests from customers asking if they can buy cases of Greyhound that we knew we had a winner with this one and needed to release it on its own,” explained Steve Kaczeus, Owner/Brewer at Bootstrap Brewing. “We’ve also won 3 awards for this flavor in the short time since its release which is further confirmation for us.”
Hard seltzers are light, refreshing, low calorie, low in ABV, gluten-free, and are expected to become a $2.5 billion beverage category by 2021. They’re also a go-to drink for the Kaczeus’, who currently offer three Sparkalicious flavors (4.5% ABV | 0 IBUs), all made with real fruit and inspired by classic cocktails. You can find every flavor in a 12-pack called the Sparkalicious Party Pack.
ABOUT THE SPARKALICIOUS PARTY PACK
The Sparkalicious Greyhound, Sunrise, and Cosmo are sold in a special Sparkalicious mixed Party Pack. Unlike many hard seltzers on the market that use oils, resins, or extracts derived from natural sources to impart flavor to the beverage, Bootstrap’s hard seltzers are all made with real fruit, creating a more natural delicious flavor with vibrant colors.
“When we decided to make Sparkalicious, we wanted a hard seltzer we would enjoy drinking ourselves, and we wanted to use real fruit,” said Kaczeus. “We then decided to create flavors based on cocktails we like to drink.”

Riverbend Malt House Debuts Sunset Wheat Malt
Just in time for autumn, Riverbend Malt House welcomes a new sunset-hued malt variety into its portfolio.
ASHEVILLE, NC— Just in time for autumn, Riverbend Malt House welcomes a new sunset-hued malt variety into its portfolio. Sunset Wheat Malt is now available for purchase by brewers and distillers across the Southeast.
This new malt is rooted in the same high quality soft red winter wheat that we use for our flagship Appalachian Wheat. From there we explored a warmer kilning regime similar to a Munich-style. This technique uses large volumes of warm, moist air to develop the building blocks for color and flavor development. The result is a malt that is reminiscent of cookie dough finished with a dash of baking spice.
“We've been exploring the flavor of Southern grown grains for a decade now, and Sunset Wheat marks the next chapter for us,” says Brent Manning, Co-Founder and Director of Product Development. “We know brewers and distillers are always on the lookout for something that is rich, complex, and still highly functional.”
Sunset Wheat Malt weighs in at 9 SRM and 90 percent extract. Diastatic power is 108. Try this malt in a wide array of styles ranging from German Weisse beers to high gravity English-style ales.
Browse the Riverbend malt library here and place an order by emailing orders@riverbendmalt.com. All malt orders in October will include a free Riverbend 10 Year Harvest t-shirt, while supplies last.

Craft Maltsters Guild Debuts Opportunity: 2022 Advanced Class in Craft Malt Production
The Craft Maltsters Guild will offer a four-day intensive workshop in the days leading up to the 2022 Craft Malt Conference in Portland, Maine (CMC 2022).
PORTLAND, ME— The Craft Maltsters Guild will offer a four-day intensive workshop in the days leading up to the 2022 Craft Malt Conference in Portland, Maine (CMC 2022).
Startup and experienced maltsters, as well as other parties in the malt supply chain, will gain theoretical and practical knowledge in malting technology at the 2022 Advanced Class in Craft Malt Production. It will be held February 14-17, 2022 at the Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland, Maine, in the days leading up to the annual Craft Malt Conference. Industry veterans, Hugh Alexander, owner and operator of Scotland’s Balnamoon Maltings & Brewery, and Hannah Turner, Director of the Montana State University Barley, Malt & Brewing Quality Lab, will bring real world experience, research and data, and deep passion as instructors.
“There are few opportunities for those interested in craft malt production to learn the ins and outs of that process so they often have to learn as they go,” says Guild Executive Director Jesse Bussard. “Because of this lack of educational opportunities, the Guild has stepped in to develop classes for our members and the community-at-large to help advance the field.”
Participants will develop knowledge in malting barley and in its characteristics, including learning and controlling the different steps of the malting process; determining the defining characteristics of malt quality and the influence of processing parameters; and learning the technology and methods used to produce craft malt. They will receive a certificate of completion at the end and will be armed with knowledge that will help them further their professional pursuits.
Craft Maltsters Guild members can enjoy the discounted class fee of $1600 while the non-member rate is $2000. Register for the class here.
Join the Craft Maltsters Guild or renew here to get the member rate.

LONE TREE, CO— Lone Tree Brewing is releasing their seasonal Vanilla Caramel Amber on October 1, just in time for the transition into fall colors.

A full-bodied but drinkable amber, Vanilla Caramel Amber is just 6% ABV with a subtle bitterness and a melting sweetness on the finish. It’s smooth flavor is perfect for scarf wrapped nights under chilly skies.
Vanilla Caramel Amber will tap at Lone Tree’s tasting room on September 30th. It will be available in kegs and canned 6-packs in Kansas and across Colorado’s Front Range, I-70 corridor, and Southwest region, so everyone can sink into fall with a subtly sweet and perfectly smooth Amber— statewide and beyond.

LONGMONT, CO— Bootstrap Brewing’s Stick's Pale Ale just won a gold medal in the American-Style Pale Ale category at the 2021 Great American Beer Festival®, among 150 other competitors for that medal.
Considered to be the Oscars of the American brewing industry, GABF® scores beers based on how well they represent each beer-style category, with winners landing gold, silver, and bronze placements if they meet or exceed those standards.
A GABF veteran, Stick’s won gold in 2016 in the same category. and has won numerous other medals at competitions around the country for it’s smooth, delicious flavor profile. A true American Pale Ale, Stick’s is citrusy and dry hopped with Mosaic hops for a bright and bitter finish that is categorically delicious.
This win comes on the heels of several other achievements for Bootstrap, including multiple medals at the U.S. Open Beer Championship, the USA Beer Ratings, and the U.S. Beer Tasting Championship.
“This was such an awesome moment for the entire Bootstrap team,” explains owner/brewer Steve Kaczeus. “It’s hard enough to win one gold medal in a popular GABF beer category let alone 2 gold medals. In developing the recipe, I wanted to make sure Stick’s had great flavor and awesome aroma using Galaxy and Mosaic hops.
“It took me several iterations but it obviously got there. It’s my favorite porch pounder,” Kaczeus added.

Lone Tree Brewing Peach Pale Ale Earns Hardware at the 2021 Great American Beer Festival
Long time creators of fruit beer, Lone Tree always uses real fruit flavor that adds clean, bright notes to any style and earns awards ranging from GABF to state based competitions.
LONE TREE, CO— Over the weekend, Lone Tree Brewing was honored with the bronze medal in the American Fruit Beer category at the 2021 Great American Beer Festival® for their Peach Pale Ale.
As the penultimate brewing competition in the United States, GABF® compares submissions to it’s category specific parameters, awarding a possible three medals for bronze, silver, and gold based on how well that year’s submissions match up.
In a category of 133 entries, Peach Pale Ale’s subtle fruit-forward flavor stood out. Made from real ripened peaches paired with a refreshing citrus aroma, this beer is a deep golden color with a medium body, approachable bitterness, and a finishing stone fruit flavor.
"It's exciting to see one of our longest running beers get this kind of recognition," says Dennis Stack, Lone Tree’s Sales & Marketing Director. "True to our style of brewing, the base pale ale is a solid brew on its own but we like to put a subtle twist on it with the addition of peach."

Bootstrap Brewing Announces The New Adventure Series Rotating 6-Packs
Bootstrap Brewing announced today the release of their brand new Adventure Series 6-packs which will begin shipping September 13th.
LONGMONT, CO — Bootstrap Brewing announced today the release of their brand new Adventure Series 6-packs which will begin shipping September 13th. The Adventure Series will rotate through a variety of styles that have previously only been available in the tasting room plus feature brand new recipes never released before.
The first release of the Adventure Series is an ESB-style Amber Ale that has been on tap in the tasting room since the brewery opened in June of 2012. “I’m extremely excited about this one because our Amber is a strong favorite of mine, and I’ve only been able to enjoy it outside of the taproom in growlers or Crowlers. Not ideal when I’m riding my horse and want to enjoy a beer at a favorite stop,” explains Owner Leslie Kaczeus.
In parallel with Bootstrap’s previous can designs, the Adventure Series features a variety of animals indigenous to the Rocky Mountains to reflect the company’s love of outdoor adventures. “Amber pairs so well with tubing down your favorite lazy river,” Kaczeus adds.
Bootstrap’s 5.6% ABV, 28 IBUs ESB-Style Amber combines a blend of malts from light to dark along with various Cascade hop additions to make a fresh, crisp, hoppy beer. It’s also crafted to reduce gluten.
“We’re still deciding which styles we’ll feature in forthcoming releases in the rotation and are contemplating our Cherry Gose, Foreign Stout, a new super Hazy IPA or possibly our new pickle beer that we can’t seem to keep on tap,” explained Owner/Brewer Steve Kaczeus. “We love to let our customers weigh in on the vote too, so whatever we release will be one of their favorites for sure.”

Ska Brewing Mesa Guava IPA Comes to Year-Round Canned Fruit-ion
Ska Brewing will bring the Southwest-inspired flavors of its Mesa Guava IPA to all of its distribution states this week.
DURANGO, CO— Ska Brewing will bring the Southwest-inspired flavors of its Mesa Guava IPA to all of its distribution states this week.
Mesa Guava IPA first debuted as a limited batch in cans in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona earlier this year. Now it’s back due to popular demand, joining the year-round portfolio and hitting all of Ska’s markets.
This new IPA was born through a brainstorm with Whole Foods. Fitting for both its Central American roots from which ska music originates and its compatibility with hop-forward flavors, guava was selected as this IPA’s key ingredient. Bold notes of Trident, Strata, and Idaho 7 hops meet tropical undertones in this balanced, medium-bodied beer.
“The fruit reinforces this beer’s sense of place at Ska and in the Southwest,” says Ska Brewing Co-Founder and CEO Dave Thibodeau. “Follow the mesa country to where the fruit originated from, and you’ll find the cultural inspiration for Ska Brewing.”
“I’ve been wanting to do something with guava as long as I’ve lived in the Southwest,” adds Kristen Muraro, Ska’s Sales and Marketing Director and 20+ year Durango local. “I’m excited, too, because this beer will be the first to join Ska’s year-round canned beer portfolio since the release of Double Hazy IPA cans earlier in spring.”
Mesa Guava IPA debuts at Ska’s World Headquarters in Durango on Friday, September 10. It will be available in 6-packs in all eleven of Ska’s distribution states on a year-round basis.
For more information about Ska’s newest IPA, contact Emily Hutto at coop@radcraftbeer.com.

DENVER, CO— One of craft beer’s biggest weeks has arrived, and 2021 Craft Beer Conference (CBC) events are popping up all over Denver.

The podcast can be accessed via Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Twitch.
Christopher Glenn, Bottleshare founder, will join Jordan Fink, Woods Boss co-owner, to discuss the collaboration, the story behind it, and how Bottleshare has harnessed the compassion of the craft beer industry and directed it right back to that industry, raising tens of thousands of dollars for those who need it most.
Glenn created Bottleshare as a way to “pay it forward,” to help those who had once helped him following a life-changing, brain-altering accident. According to the copy on the can itself, Clarity Through the Haze speaks to finding “clarity… of purpose through the clouds of experience.” It’s a beer with tropical notes that mark its New England influence but stands firmly in the clear, clean, slightly piney West Coast IPA territory.
Friday, September 10, will see the release of Clarity Through the Haze when Woods Boss opens at noon; Glenn will be on hand to discuss Bottleshare and the collaboration. Fifty percent of the sales from both drafts and 4-packs of the collaboration will be directed to Bottleshare’s vitally important support fund.

Living The Dream Brewing and Whole Foods Release Zap! Smash! IPA
Zap! Smash! was crafted with Zappa Hops, named in honor of Frank Zappa, and Colorado-grown Root Shoot Genie Pale Malt.
LITTLETON, CO– Living The Dream Brewing is excited to release an experimental IPA in collaboration with the Highlands Ranch, Colorado Whole Foods branch. Zap! Smash! is now available for locally minded beer lovers.
Zap! Smash! was crafted with Zappa Hops, named in honor of Frank Zappa, and Colorado-grown Root Shoot Genie Pale Malt. This refreshing 5.4% IPA yields flavors of mango, passionfruit, citrus, and pine.
“Whole Foods reached out to us when their Highlands Ranch Store took on a full liquor license, and we were thrilled to partner with them on beer to celebrate their commitment to supporting local. We decided on a single malt and single hop beer, or S.M.A.S.H, beer featuring Colorado’s own Root Shoot Malting, and highlighting Zappa hops— a native North American hop variety,” explains Living The Dream founder Jason Bell. “The name came about as Zappa and SMASH reminded us of the old superhero shows where the action was accentuated by the large word bubbles like POW, BAM, etc.”
Zap! Smash! is now available in limited quantities in 12oz. canned 6-packs at the Living The Dream’s tasting room. Find it at Whole Foods South Denver Metro locations beginning September 15, while supplies last.

Mortal Expands Nationwide & Completes First Raise to Fund Rapid Growth
Triple digit sales growth, new markets and store placements across the United States, the completion of their first fundraising round, and the launch of hard kombucha in Colorado
BOULDER, CO— Mortal, a Boulder-based beverage company producing Mortal Kombucha and Mortal XXX Hard Kombucha is poised for its best year in business yet. Among its milestones are triple digit sales growth, new markets and store placements across the United States, the completion of their first fundraising round, and the launch of hard kombucha in Colorado. Read on in this Mortal 2021 Mid-Year Review.
SALES & DISTRIBUTION
It’s not every day a small batch beverage brand explodes (in a good way) across the country, and Mortal has its distribution partners KeHE and UNFl to credit to the rapid growth already achieved in 2021: up nearly 500% YOY. Mortal’s eight kombucha flavors— Black Sage, Marg Simpson, Black Magic, Apparently It’s Love, Power Melon, Sour Ginger, Chill Flower, and Dem Apples — are now available in Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, the Northeast, the Mid Atlantic, and the Midwest, spanning 40 States in the U.S..
Thirsty fermentation lovers can now find Mortal in new stores, too. These placements include Whole Foods in the Pacific Northwest, Mother’s Markets and Erewhon Market in Southern California, Down To Earth in Hawaii, Harmon’s in Utah, and Jungle Jim’s International Market and Woodman’s Market in the Midwest. Shop online and find a local retailer at mortalkombucha.com/where-to-buy/.
MORTAL XXX HARD KOMBUCHA
Earlier this year, Mortal introduced the Mortal XXX Hard Kombucha line that includes Cucumber Cool Off, Pineapple Kapow, Guavaloha Punch, and Lavender Afternoon. Each flavor is vibrant, fun and totally crushable. It has a 5.2% ABV, which walks a fine line to the rebellion that is indulging in a second. The eco-conscious decision to make the hard kombucha in 355mL cans is to make it not only recyclable, but easy to travel with for camping or enjoying around the pool.
Available in 4-packs and distributed exclusively by Colorado Craft Distributors, Mortal XXX Hard Kombucha is now available across Colorado in cans and kegs for both on and off-premise sales. It can be found in all Whole Foods and Natural Grocers stores that carry alcohol as well as a handful of independent liquor stores throughout the state.
LOOKING FORWARD
In August, Mortal completed its first-ever fundraising round on a convertible note. The investment was made up of strategic investors with expertise in beverage, brand and distribution. Canard Ventures, a Boulder, CO based venture firm with a portfolio of early-stage brands across many sectors participated as well as Manna Capital Partners out of Louisville, Kentucky.
“The Mortal brand has a lot of vision when it comes to emerging categories in beverage. We're excited to partner with Mortal and help them amplify their efforts. ” said Kevin Attkisson, partner Manna Capital Partners.
The completed convertible round will support retail expansion on both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic fronts, as well as considerable investment into marketing.
“Brands are everything in this category,” said Lon McGowan, founder of Canard Ventures, “and Mortal has been able to quickly establish itself as an outstanding brand on the shelves in this extremely competitive category."
In addition to investment partners, Mortal attributes success to strong partnerships in all aspects of their business— including premium ingredient producers, world-class Scoby cultivators, hard-working, strategic distributors; and everyone in between.
Looking towards the future, Mortal plans to expand its brand from kombucha into more functional beverage spaces.

LFG: An Event Celebrating Females and Femmes in the Craft Beer Industry
On Friday, September 10th from 4:00-5:00 pm mountain time at Prost Brewing Company & Biergarten, the Pink Boots Denver Chapter is hosting LFG - an event celebrating females and femmes in the craft beer industry.
DENVER, CO — On average, 73% of craft brewery workers are male, including owners and management (Brewers Association, 2020). While this might not seem like a big deal to many, to female-identifying members of the craft beer industry, the weight of this unbalanced power dynamic is felt on a daily basis. Advocacy and support for females and femmes in the craft beer industry is something that the Pink Boots Society© puts front and center within the organization.
The Pink Boots Society© was created to assist, inspire and encourage women fermented/alcoholic beverage industry professionals to advance their careers through education. The Pink Boots Society© is a non-profit organization with international membership. Pink Boots Society© Membership is open to all women (cis, trans, female-identifying, and non-binary individuals) who meet various levels of professional association within the fermented/alcoholic beverage industry.
On Friday, September 10th from 4:00-5:00 pm mountain time at Prost Brewing Company & Biergarten, the Pink Boots Denver Chapter will host an event alongside Brouwerij Huyghe (of Delirium Tremens fame), Prost Brewing, On Tap Credit Union, Probrew, and the North American Guild of Beer Writers during the 2021 Craft Brewers Conference in Denver, CO.
LFG (let’s f-ing go!) is an evening of celebrating females and femmes in the craft beer industry, and showing support for future generations of female-identifying industry members. Freelance author and independent journalist Tara Nurin will be reading an excerpt from her book, “A Woman’s Place Is In The Brewhouse,” as well as featuring some local Colorado women that participated in the project. She will also be providing insight about how she researched the subject for the first ever book dedicated to the history of women in beer. Make sure to bring some extra funds with you to the event too, as she will also be signing autographed advance copies of the book.
After the private event, be sure to stick around the main taproom of Prost for a Live Stream of the 2021 GABF Awards from 5:00-6:30 pm.
Prost Brewing will be releasing a limited edition Pink Boots Brew on the day of the event, with proceeds benefiting Pink Boots Denver. Brouwerij Huyghe will be selling Deliria as well, their special strong blonde ale that benefits National Breast Cancer Foundation. On Tap Credit Union has generously provided appetizers for the private portion of the evening.
Space is limited and you must purchase your tickets before midnight on September 3rd, 2021. Admission is FREE for all current Pink Boots Society members and $25.00 for non-members.

Riverbend Malt House Hits Recycling Milestone: 100,000 Pounds of Rootlets Repurposed For Southeast Agriculture
Riverbend sends the remaining husks— or rootlets— from each batch of malt to nearby farms to be repurposed as animal feed.
ASHEVILLE, NC— Riverbend Malt House is proud to announce its milestone of 100,000 pounds of rootlets repurposed for the nearby ecosystem of local farmers.
While not usable in the malting process, Riverbend sends the remaining husks— or rootlets— from each batch of malt to nearby farms to be repurposed as animal feed.
“This process completely closes the loop in terms of sustainability,” says Riverbend Malt House CEO Scott Hickman. “Consistent with our Malt With A Mission philosophy, kindness to the environment is important. If we create waste we want to turn it into a byproduct, or reduce the amount of waste created.”
In this case, the byproduct makes for happy cows at North Carolina farms like J4 Cattle Company in Morganton. "Our herd of steer eat close to a ton of rootlets every week. The young calves enjoy it too," says owner Robin Jackson. “This has been a great partnership all the way around."
Rootlet repurposing is one of Riverbend’s many tactics for lessening their environmental impact, which includes the reduction of 1,064,030 pounds of CO2 in ten years through local sourcing within 500 miles of the malthouse.

Buoyed by a 70,000 foot production facility and state of the art equipment, Riverbend Malt House helps breweries and distilleries large, small, and in-between stand out with flavor, locality, and community in an increasingly competitive landscape— all the while challenging the status quo of corporate, big-agriculture malt. LITTLETON, CO– Living The Dream Brewing was honored at this year’s Can Can Awards with not one, but three medals for its 7 Speed IPA, Ice Climber Double IPA, and Powder Run Cream Ale.
The Can Can Awards is the premiere beer competition focused solely on canned beers. The 2021 awards had 173 Brewery Participants who submitted 788 cans for review in 82 categories. Fifty seven judges, 49 of whom are BJCP and or Cicerone Certified, and 23 stewards determined the winners.
Living The Dream’s 7 Speed IPA took Gold in the American IPA category. With 7 different aroma hops and 4 different malts, 7-Speed is a classic, floral and citrus-forward Pale Ale that emphasizes the flavors of Citra, Simcoe, Meridian and Mosaic and creates a perfectly balanced flavor profile.
Ice Climber Double IPA was awarded silver in the Double IPA category. This bold but balanced West Coast-style IPA has a refreshing tropical fruit aroma with a sturdy malt backbone and a repeatable dry finish.
Powder Run Cream Ale, Living The Dream’s flagship and most decorated beer, took silver in the Fruit, Herb, and Spice category. Powder Run is crafted with premium malted barley, flaked corn, Noble hops, and a touch of lactose that creates creamy mouthfeel.
